The decedents of his cats still live at his home in Key West, this was on the front porch of the house. Ernest Hemingway was given a white six-toed cat by a ship's captain and many of the 50-60 cats who live on the house and museum grounds are descendants of that original cat, named Snow White. Key West is a small island and it is possible that many of the cats on the island are related.
Ft. Zachary Taylor is a national Landmark. It sits at the Western end of Key West and it is a prime spot to watch the sunset. If you are in Key West, you should go visit Fort Zach.
