I shot this few years ago while still working at Kew Gardens. It was taken near the sunset time after the gardens were closed. The sky was getting really stormy and after this it started raining really heavily. I tried to edit this several times over the years as the original is shocking... hehe... but always closed it because I didn't like the results. Still not sure about the shot but this edit I like the most so far
Pagoda
Kew's iconic Pagoda was completed in 1762. The ten-storey octagonal structure is 163ft high (almost 50m).The Pagoda was one of the jewels in the crown of Georgian London. It was so unusual that a suspicious public were unconvinced it would remain standing when it was built in 1762.
Designed at the height of the 18th century craze for Chinoiserie, it tapers with successive floors from the first to the topmost being 1ft less (30 cm) in diameter and height than the preceding one. The original building was very colourful; the roofs being covered with varnished iron plates, with a dragon on each corner. There were 80 dragons in all, each carved from wood and gilded with real gold.
The eye-catching dragons were the talk of the town for 20 years, before disappearing in the 1780s. The dragons had been removed in 1784 when repairs were undertaken to the building’s roof and are rumoured to have been sold to pay for the Prince Regent’s debts. However experts believe that, being made of wood, they had simply rotted over time.( Kew)

Another colourful sunset over my local Kew Bridge. Sometimes the weather looks so bad I decide not to bother going out until 15 minutes before sunset when the colours in the sky start to change and the rush is on to find a location. Unfortunately there is not much of interest in my area!

Die Besucherzahlen liegen heute bei 1 bis 2 Millionen pro Jahr. In jüngerer Zeit widmet sich Kew Gardens auch intensiv Zielen der Umweltbildung, der Forschung und des Naturschutzes. ...

A peacock in the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew, decided to hop up on the bench next to the one I was sitting on and proceeded to stay there seemingly unfazed by my taking numerous shots of him.
