Kenco was a somewhat reluctant model. He was photographed at the Ark, Lincolnshire who rescued him from the pet trade.

Grow, Grow, Grow ..

In the shade of the blue spruce, one of the new plants we planted this spring is flourishing. Watered every day and maybe a bit too much miracle grow,:) We want our new plants to fill out and fill up all the gaps in the garden.

This plant has such beautiful foliage, a rich tapestry of many varied colours and all with such rich texture. It really is going to be a wonderful addition to our oasis in the backyard. Our Garden of solitude.

Among The Sage...

Today I was up before the dawn, spent some time in the garden watering and just enjoying all the scents and colours of our backyard. I decided to take a few pictures before it got too hot out; as the temperature is going to be in the high 20’s. I took this shot of the sage, which is very aromatic and is blooming in the garden.

I really love the intricate tiny flowers and the fine details of the sage plant as it grows tall and slender.

Pewter Goblet....

A pewter chalice sits on top of an old sewing machine In the spare room. As I walked by early this morning the light through the front window illuminated and reflected on it, it glistened in the way only pewter can.

I grabbed my camera a 20mm extension tube and my nifty fifty. At 1f.4 The depth of field was razor thin. I had to shoot in manual as Auto focus was hunting back and forth as it sometimes does with an extension tube on the lens. I had to get really steady to capture it the way I wanted.

Nautical Sundial Compass... (EXPLORED)

Somewhere in our travels we had picked up a small Folding Sundial Compass at a marine store. It had been in our library on a shelf with other Knick Knacks. years later it got put in its box and stored away. then last week while doing our obligatory spring cleaning. I found it again.

Bitter Sweet..

Clawhammer spicy ginger root mints are a bit of a taste sensation. they are at first minty then a little bitter from the gingerroot. It took a while to get used to the taste and now i quite like it. but I must say I love the lttle tin they come in. seems a shame to throw the tin out when you are done.so I thought at the very least i could use it for an impromptu photo shoot. LOL.

This was my first attempt at a manual stacked focus in a long time. I took seven shots with different focus positions trying to avoid too much focus breathing with the lens. I had a 50mm 1.4 connected to a 20mm extension tube mounted to my tripod. I then took it into photoshop and manually deleted and aligned the seven shots. I know i could do this using the program but prefer to have more control over the end result.

Tow Mater...

Just another day at home working on various images, trying to find something to post, when there it was, staring at me from the corner of my desk; a small plastic Tow Mater from the Pixar movie Car's.

I got this as gift from Karen shortly after we saw the Pixar short; Mater and the Ghost light starring none other than Tow Mater. for weeks after watching it I would go around the house saying "beware of the Ghost Light" in the saliva filled southern drawl of Mater. This would inevitably get both Karen and I laughing. you might say the toy was a reminder to us, to love, laugh often and not take life to seriously; Which seems more appropriate than ever lately.

So I set him up in front of my I-pad using a photo I had taken at heart lake as a back ground, grabbed my nifty fifty and put on my 20mm extension tube to make sure I could blow out the background. And viola now I have something to post today. :)

Macro Mondays theme: SPIRAL

I cut freehand spirals from the metal liners of Kenco Millicano instant ground coffee tins. This is one of my faves.

This is using Kenco Extension tube for the super Macro shot.

The wind speed is 10 miles an hour, used 2 white cardboard to block the wind.

As it is extreme close, need to have the flash on for the shot.

Thanks for visiting & support.

I appreciate it.

A tapped maple tree at my brother's property, where I have been helping with sap collection and cooking this week. I guess spring is here.

Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM with 20mm Kenco extension tube (making do without macro glass).

Quite a volume of captures made with this arrangement to get something I was pleased with - this one was closest to my vision of what I wanted to do.

A freshly emerged Skimmer, we had walked up the track and turned around to return when this beauty flew in front of us and then landed in the grasses.

A visit to my local patch, good to catch up with friends and wander around the reserve.

for Macro Mondays 10/4/17. Subject 'Glaze'.

Workmen 'glazing' my shiny granite worktop. My first thought was doughnut but a lot of people will choose that I'm sure.

Taken with canon 100f2.8L is usm & kenco extender.

My first ever Emperor Dragonfly, it was a beauty, love the lines along the wing edges. Many thanks to Kev for spotting it and keeping us all still while we photographed it!

Ladywalk Nature Reserve, Hams Hall, Warwickshire - West Midland Bird Club.

A large moth (Eudocima genus?) landed on the kitchen window. This is the only pic I managed, the antennae backlit by the kitchen light with the insect screen giving a background pattern.

This is a self-seeded pumpkin that appeared in my veggie patch. It waited until we were away on a 2 week holiday, then exploded across the space available and obliterated my veggies. I'm hoping for a couple of pumpkins in return. I'll probably have to settle for some photo opps.

A visit to my local patch, good to catch up with friends and wander around the reserve.

I wish all my friends & fans a Happy Easter & Great St. Patrick's Day!!

Portrait of a damselfly : A beautiful green(and blue ) eyed damselfly. Single shot and no cropping. I have used Canon 70-200F4L at 200mm + Raynox DCR 250 and Kenco Extension tubes. Ofcourse I have used my speedlite 580ex ii for lighting.
