The combination of a subway station, an entrance on to and exit off of the Brooklyn Queens Expressway, plus a police station and fire house just up the block, makes the corner of Metropolitan and Union Avenues one of the busiest intersections in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
I was so excited by the colors, the brightness, the hustle and bustle of the area that I forgot..... well, you know now it is..... to adjust the camera settings..... LOL!!!
About an hour later, after shooting the Kellogs (no apostrophe) Diner from every conceivable angle, with people, without people, with fire trucks and police cars speeding by, their lights flashing and reflecting off everything, I finally calmed down and took some terrific shots, but I just love the boo-boos.
Many of the photos were taken from the middle of the street or blocking the turning lanes....................... no one beeped me................... not even the police cars................. they all waited patiently for me to take my shot and then went on their way............. I LOVE photographer friendly New York City drivers!!!! ..... or maybe they were just obeying NYC's "no beep" law.....

Von der Einfahrt zum Hohentorshafen in der Bremer Neustadt aus zeigt sich der Kellogg Pier auf der gegenüberliegenden Überseeinsel bunt beleuchtet. Das Silo-Hotel John & Will, und das von der Zech Gruppe als Firmenzentrale genutzte Hochhaus sind zwei markante Landmarken.
[Die Geometrie der Linsenreflexionen mittig im oberen Drittel fand ich so spannend, dass ich sie nicht heraus retuschiert habe.]

From the entrance to Hohentorshafen in Bremen Neustadt, the Kellogg Pier on the overseas island opposite is brightly lit. The John & Will silo hotel and the high-rise used by the Zech Group as its headquarters are two striking landmarks.
[I found the geometry of the lens reflections in the middle of the upper third so exciting that I didn't retouch them out.]
I'm still sick that Mark didn't win. He sure put on a good show and finished second.
This was taken from my penthouse seats HIGH in turn 1....best seats in the house in my opinion!

Wellness for breakfast cereals: Pete, Buzz, Jack and Ronnie from the once world-famous Kellog Family are enjoying a special yoghurt bath at the cereal spa. While a comfortable, gently lulling warmth slowly takes possession of them, Ronnie vaguely remembers the bath attendant's warning: "Do not fall asleep in the strawberry yoghurt bath!" Otherwise he would be forced to call the infamous Spawatch spooncopter to their rescue. And their pilots are all too well known, notorious even, for sometimes taking the rescued to the City of Mourne-Mouth instead of dropping them off at the edge of the pool... Will our four friends wake up in time?
I haven't eaten cereals in ages. But when I saw those figure-shaped ones at the super market, it gave me an idea for the "Goes Together Like..." theme. Actually I wanted to combine a cereal figure and a loop-shaped cereal (as a life ring), and put them in soy milk (which I'd poured into a yellow egg cup) for some "Baywatch"-style rescue action. But first of all the cereal figures were too big to fit through the cereal loops (they'd probably eaten too much sugar), and then, life "ring" or not, the poor cereal guy would drown almost immediately, or fall over, each time I'd put him in the milk. So I took non-dairy vanilla yoghurt instead, which I'd also dyed pink with some red food colouring to make it look like strawberry-type yoghurt for a nicer colour contrast (the vanilla yoghurt's original colour almost matched the cereal guys' colour). Added nonpareils / lovebeads as "eyes", and done with the jolly little pool party :-)

Wellness für Frühstückscerealien: Pete, Buzz, Jack und Ronnie von der einst weltberühmten Kellog Family lassen es sich mit einem speziellen Joghurt-Bad im Cerealien-Spa gutgehen. Während langsam, aber (tod-)sicher eine wohlige, einlullend sanfte Wärme von ihnen Besitz ergreift, erinnert sich Ronnie vage an die Warnung des Bademeisters vom Spawatch: "Nicht einschlafen im Erdbeerjoghurt-Bad!"... Sonst wäre er gezwungen, den berühmt-berüchtigten Löffelcopter zu ihrer Rettung zu rufen. Und deren Piloten sind dafür bekannt, die Geretteten gerne mal in Richtung Groß-Munden statt an den Beckenrand zu befördern... Werden unsere vier Genießer noch rechtzeitig aufwachen?
Zerealien habe ich ja schon ewig nicht mehr gekauft, aber als ich zufällig diese lustigen Figürchen im Supermarktregal entdeckte, kam mir die Idee für's "Goes-together-like..."-Thema. Eigentlich wollte ich ein Figürchen zusammen mit einem dieser ringförmigen "Loop"-Flocken (als Rettungsring) im Soja-Drink versenken, aber es passierte eben genau das: Erstens waren die kleinen Getreidekerle zu dick für die Getreideringe (haben wohl zu viel Zucker gegessen), und dann ist der Getreide-(Nicht-)Schwimmer auch immer fast sofort ertrunken oder vornüber gekippt, solbald er mit der Milch in Kontakt kam, selbst als ich ihn auf einen Rettungs-"Loop" gelegt hatte. Also griff ich zum Cashew-Joghurt, auf dem die Kerlchen dann recht lange liegen blieben, bevor sie ihrer Auflösung bzw. Verschmelzung mit dem Joghurt entgegensanken ;-) Da der Joghurt fast die gleiche Farbe wie die Zerealien hatte (bio eben), habe ich noch mit etwas Lebensmittelfarbe für besseren Farbkontrast nachgeholfen. Dann noch bunte Liebesperlen als Augen - und fertig war die Pool-Party :-) Strawberry-Joghurt Forever!

A dumb barge is a boat without an engine.
Bigmere is 71 feet long 14 feet 6inches wide. and would carry 80 to 114 tons of cargo.
She plied her trade manly from Manchester Docks to Kellogs in Trafford Park. with occasional trips to Liverpool Docks.
She was retired in 1974.
#171/365 Breakfast Cereal macro style! Nothing but the healthy stuff here! This was an idea I had..not sure if it all worked out. The coco puff looks like a swedish meatball. But you know you all loved these as a kid! I'm sure there are plenty I have lefted out. Hopefully this makes you want to eat a bowl of yummy sugar...I mean cereal.
