The lads at work were keen on Mount Keen (which I did a few weeks ago), so here we are again, cycling up Glen Tanar to get there. The weather is perfect as shown by these reflections in Trout Loch.
Mount Keen is my 11th Munro and this is my second time of climbing it. It is the most easterly of all the Munros and stands at 939 Meters (3080 feet), forming an almost perfect cone. A 7 mile cycle up Glen Tanar gets us to the foot of the 2 mile ascent up the mountain.

Thanks a lot for the comments and the visit, everyone!
Cycling up Glen Tanar, I round a corner and am presented with the imposing heights of Mount Keen. A little way to go yet before I reach the foot of the climb, but I'm getting there!
Mount Keen is the most Easterly of all the Munros and although it is the closest to where I live, although I've climbed 10 others before climbing this, my 11th Munro. It stands at 939 Meters (3080 feet) and forms an almost perfect cone in its prominence. I made the ascent from Glen Tanar, cycling 6 miles in by bike (with an ascent of 210 meters / 689 feet), taking about 1.5 hours. This left me a final climb of just over 2 miles, with an ascent of 549 Meters (1801 feet), which I did surprisingly quickly (for me) at not much more than an hour. Including stops the whole trip was just over 4.5 hours, not bad for a 50 year old covering 16 miles of tough ground.

First manufactured in Tasmania in 1854, Keens curry powder has been a household name across Australian kitchens,
The common kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) is a bird of prey species belonging to the kestrel group of the falcon family Falconidae. It is also known as the European kestrel, Eurasian kestrel, or Old World kestrel. In Britain, where no other kestrel species occurs, it is generally just called "the kestrel".

This spot is just so perfect you can't take just one shot! So here's another frame as they coil up through the reverse curves.
After shooting northbound Reading and Northern train NRFF entering the Lehigh Gorge at Jim Thorpe we headed north to the White Haven area to await their arrival. Having gotten them at the tunnel a few days earlier and with gorgeous sunlit skies I wanted this signature shot on the route. Known as Keen Apple Curve for reasons I don't know (if anyone here knows the origin of the name I'd love to hear where it comes from) this s curve is located on a stiff 1.12% climb on former Jersey Central trackage (the route shifted off the ex LV right of way three miles south) at MP LS 147 of modern day RBMN's Lehigh Division mainline.
Exactly one minute after the deer crossed as seen in the prior image the Independence Day edition of 'America's Freight Train' curled into view with a healthy sizes train behind five green and yellow EMDs led by RBMN 3053 (an SD40-2 blt. Apr. 1980 as MP 3321)
