Bronze sculpture of two women at Kastrup, Copenhagen Airport.
From the top, an impressive plateau, it is possible to contemplate the entire city of Rio and its surroundings – it is possible to see the Sugar Loaf, Christ the Redeemer, the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema, São Conrado and Barra da Tijuca, and even the mountains of Serra of the Organs. It's an unforgettable sight!

SIXTH SECTION
(Escalavrado Trail – first edge or the donkey's back, alluding to the format that looks a lot like the back of the animal).
The sixth section is the first edge. There are two altogether.
This first edge is a very delicate and dangerous part of the trail, as it is the narrowest edge with only 2 meters / 6,6 feet wide, 30 meters / 98 feet long and a huge cliff on both sides. When the edge is dry it is easier to pass, but when it is wet it is very delicate and slippery, even for the guide to climb with climbing shoes to secure the rope.
It is essential to have a fixed rope so that we maintain complete balance and stand up correctly. Preferably attached to it.

National Aquarium Denmark
Den Blå Planet opened in 2013 in Kastrup, a suburb of Copenhagen It resembles a whirlpool when seen from above. It often is, being close to the Copenhagen Airport. It was designed by Danish architects 3XN
The Kastrup Sea Baths, situated off-shore in the Øresund Sound, has great views of the Saltholm Island and Sweden.
This is an architectural pearl and a truly magical place that offers good swimming opportunities with protection against the wind.
My first attempt on black & white photography. This is a 5 minute exposure of an idyllic place near Copenhagen in Danmark. I used a 13 stop and 4 stop filter to reach a 5 minute exposure time.
Descending the Peak of Escalavrado was a challenging but rewarding experience. The trail is steep and winding, with many exposed spots. However, the views from the top are breathtaking, making the challenge worthwhile.
The trail started at the Paraíso da Serra restaurant, on the Rio-Teresópolis Highway. The hike to the top took about 4:40 hours (roundtrip). The trail is well marked, but it's important to be aware of your surroundings and be careful not to get lost.
At the top, we were rewarded with stunning views of the Serra dos Órgãos. We saw the God's Finger, the Carboy, the Bell Stone and other mountains. We also saw Rio de Janeiro and Guanabara Bay.
The descent was faster than the ascent, but it was still challenging. It is important to descend carefully and avoid rushing. The descent back to the Paraíso da Serra restaurant took about 2 hours.
The descent of the Peak of Escalavrado was an experience I will never forget. It was a testament to my strength and determination, and the views from the top were breathtaking.

Lever:
The knee is the largest joint in our body. It is vulnerable to injury because it is relatively exposed, supports the weight of the body, and, as the center of a lever, transmits and multiplies the forces applied to it.
The main force is the weight of the body. By the lever mechanism, when flexing the knee, the average body weight is multiplied 5 to 7 times.
Going up and down mountains puts a lot of strain on the knees. When movement is done frequently, injuries can result.
Going down peaks forces the knee more than going up because the joint, on the way down, needs to brake the body's weight before taking the next step.

O Paredão da Pedra da Gávea (the Big Wall of Gávea) is a very popular place for hikers due to its angle that yields incredible photos, overlooking the south zone of Rio.
The site is a little before Carrasqueira (the kermes oak), on the left as you go up, deviating a few meters from the main trail. We could also call it the Emperor's Neck, as it is below the eyes, where it meets the trail. In this Paredão there is an interesting crack, which depending on the angle you look at it, may look like the edge of an abyss. It's actually dangerous, but not as much as it seems.
PS. Note the orange rappelling rope prepared for the descent right in the middle of the photograph from top to bottom.

This one I have had on my todo list for quite a while. It's an open air pool in the sea. I shot this at a 79 seconds exposure, using my Lee little stopper.
THIRD SECTION:
(Escalavrado Trail – Rope Climbing Throw)
This third stretch is very delicate! If it's dry, it's not difficult, but it requires a lot of attention because a fall in this part can cause a deadly fall on a ramp of many hundreds of meters / feet.
The rock forms a kind of natural channel with some crystal veins where participants climb by stepping and leaning on each other. When it's wet, which is very common, it certainly becomes much more delicate and dangerous. That's why our guides advised at least to attach a rope and make a "handrail" to help with balance and even then it is necessary to be very careful.
This is not a “joke” time.

=====================
While approaching to land to Kastrup/Copenhague airport we coul admire the huge Øresund brigde, the link between Denmark and Sweden. A part of it (the brige) is over the water, bu the other half is under it. And the link to both of them is done through an artificial island, with the funny name of Peberholm (pepper's island). It's funny because just north there's the real island Saltholm (salt island).

Myths, Legends and Rock Formations:
Due to the strange rock formations, and some formations on a wall in the form of writing or signs, Pedra da Gávea carries along with its name many legends and myths. Among the main myths and legends, one of them involves characters engraved in stone and the hypothesis of the Phoenician sphinx. Another theory that some raise about Pedra Gavea is that there is a great portal to Agartha.
By observing the stone well, several associations can be made and below are some of the most common ones.
The Giant's Head or Emperor's Head:
Looking at Pedra da Gávea, seen from Pedra Bonita or from the Canoas road that goes around Pedra Bonita, as well as from the Hang Gliding and Paragliding ramp that is almost at the top of Pedra Bonita, you can see the head of a large sculpted giant in stone. Whether an accidental work of nature or not, the resemblance is very great and it really does look like a sculpture.
As to this resemblance, whatever the cause of such formation, not even the most skeptical of men can deny.
Enigmatic Inscriptions:
At the top of the Rock, next to the Head on the left, beginning of the video, there are some formations and erosions that look like inscriptions or what look like letters carved in the stone. With the naked eye it is not always possible to see, but looking at enlarged photos taken with telephoto lenses that provide better details at long distances, one can see what appear to be inscriptions (words engraved in stone) of some primitive alphabet.
What most intrigues many observers of Pedra da Gávea is not exactly the shape of a "human head" at one end, nor the shapes of "portals" that may be random formations, made over the years, by erosion, a natural phenomenon.
Some observers are not satisfied with admitting that the marks in the form of writing are a mere chance of nature. This fact suggests a curious and creative hypothesis to try to explain the enigma of the writings on the stone.
First Findings About Engraved Characters:
The shapes of the rock, which bear resemblance to a human face, drew attention for a long time, as well as the characters that were also first objects of study since the time of Dom João VI's stay in Brazil.
Friar Custódio, a religious specialist in epigraphy, that is, studies of stone engravings, made a report about the inscriptions on Pedra da Gávea, and concluded that they were made at the time of the discovery of Brazil, and this report was delivered to Dom João VI .
In 1839, the Brazilian Historical and Geographical Institute decided to analyze the subject, and organized an expedition for this purpose. Historians J. Cunha Barbosa, Manoel de Araújo Porto Alegre and imperial chaplain J. Rodrigues Monteiro participated.
The report that followed, after the expedition and subsequent analyses, recognized Phoenician characters in the inscriptions, appearing to have been made in antiquity, and being deteriorated by time. However, the report also saw the inscriptions as a product of erosion, which ultimately led to the hypothesis that the characters were made by nature to prevail.
However, in 1928, a new hypothesis appeared that attributed the engravings of characters in Pedra da Gávea to the Phoenicians.
The last translation made below shows the sequence of these studies.
Jeth-Baal or Yet-Baal, is a name that refers to two twin brothers, older sons of Badezir.
And finally, what does this mean? Looking back at history, there existed in the year 856 BC, a Phoenician King named Badezir, who according to the first translation replaced and succeeded King Jethbaal, his father, on the royal throne of Tyro. But according to the second translation, Badezir was the father of the Jeth-Baal brothers.
If this hypothesis were confirmed with archaeological evidence, it could be believed that the Phoenicians were in Rio about 800 years before Christ, and that Pedra da Gávea would be a tomb where Badezir or Jeth-Baal would be buried, and human features shaped on the stone would be the face of Badezir or Jeth-Baal.
Whose face would the sphinx be, already eroded by erosion, and without the nose? It would be the representation of the face of King Badezir or Jeth-Baal. And was that formation really the representation of an unfinished sphinx? Or eroded by erosion?
There are those who claim from the height of all their wisdom that it is a sphinx. And one of the staunchest defenders of this hypothesis is the president of the Brazilian Association of Speleology and Archaeological Research in Rio, Roldão Pires Brandão, who stated:
"It is a sphinx engraved in granite by the Phoenicians, which has the face of a man and the body of an animal lying down. The tail must have fallen off due to the action of time. The rock, seen from afar, has the grandeur of monuments pharaonic figures and reproduces, on one of its sides, the severe face of a patriarch".
Pedra da Gávea is also related to the Agartha portal, an entrance to a subterranean world inside the Earth, arising from the Hollow Earth theory.

Going to the Heights:
On the Pyramid Stone:
You can choose between two routes to reach the top of Pedra da Gávea: the traditional route and Pico dos 4 (Peak of Four), which is not signposted. A waterfall marks the division between the two right at the beginning of the trail. For first-time climbers, it's best to start with the traditional route. The first stop is Pedra do Navio (Ship's Stone), which looks like the underside of a vessel and can serve as a shelter from that untimely rain. Take the opportunity to have a snack in the clearing of Praça da Bandeira (Flag Square), and then head to the Mirante da Laje (Slab Viewpoint). It is there that we see a stone face known as Cabeça do Imperador (Emperor's Head).
Don't forget to take that incredible photo of the landscape at Paredão da Gávea (Gávea Wall) and take a deep breath to face the next stage: Carrasqueira (New Holm Oaks). It's a first-degree climb, with very visible crevasses, and people tend to go very slowly. So, keep an eye out for congestion on the trail, but don't be discouraged: 20 minutes later, you'll reach the plateau and enjoy one of the most incredible views of the Marvelous City.
