It is heartening to know that Hindus have always believed in worshiping the Male and Female aspect of God together and that Sri Ram was a staunch devoted husband. Not only that, one says Seeta Ram and Radha Krishna and as one can see the female name gets precedence.
Karva Chauth Day falls on the 4th day of the Kartik month every year. On this day it is customary for the wife to fast the whole day. She does not drink water either. She paints her hands and feet with henna, dresses generally in red apparel and on her hair parting she smears vermilion powder. All the above is the 'Shringar' of a bride.
A lady called Veeravati broke her fast and her husband died. She preserved the body of her husband and he came back to life the next Karva Chauth. It is believed that a Pati-Vrat woman has the power to confront the God of Death, Yama. This Karva Chauth fast is undertaken by the wife, so that the husband enjoys a long and prosperous life.
The story of Karva is well known. Her husband was caught by a crocodile. Karva bound the crocodile with a cotton yarn. She then asked Yama to send the crocodile to hell. Yama refused. Karva threatened to curse Yama. Yama, afraid of being cursed by Pati-vrat (devoted) wife, sent the crocodile to hell. Karva and her husband enjoyed many years of wedded bliss. The fact that Yama was afraid of being cursed by a devoted wife showed the power a good faithful woman!
Maybe you have heard the story of Savitri. The latter followed Yama, who carried away her dead husband. Yama said that she could ask for any other boon except for the life of her husband. Savitri asked that she be blessed with children. Yama agreed. Being a Pati-Vrat wife, Savitri would never any other man, be the father of her children. Yama was left with no other choice but to restore Savitri's husband to life.
In the olden days, a woman was dependent on a man. Whether he was her father, brother, husband or Guru. Without a man she was considered incomplete. Today that may not be the case. But it is still refreshing to see a loving wife or a loving husband.
We are very much like these puppets, our strings are in the
hands of Almighty...
As i look at puppets i see how happily they surrender to
the wish of their master..and play their role on the stage &
yet come out happily !!
Yet they leave smile on everyones face....:)
Question to ourselves here ... are we ready to surrender our
lives to our master..the Almighty ?? and believe everything to
be His wish and come out with smile on our faces..of
contentment..feeling of Divine selfless love and care be it
in rewarding or testing times...???
Love makes it possible to answer all bitter questions and
logic plays of our mind. We become like puppets, change
our habits and moods for person whom we love deeply.
So as a gradual shift before loving Almighty, are we even
committed to love? It is love only which makes one reach God.
True Love is best bliss and then bliss of surrendership is
enhanced..as one leaves total control to Him. Can we control
deep sleep, dreams? Then why not leave control on one who
sees our best?
Loving God...is like loving Air..we know air's impotance yet cannot
feel love for air. To love someone we need that someone in person
live in front of us, and not just abstract concepts. Flower leaves its
fragrance so does God in Human form does it. Have we
smelled it ever???
If yes, then one will love God immediately and His wish will
be our wish as its love now which matters.

Does anything in our life exceed than true love?? If yes

શાસ્ત્રીજી મહારાજની જન્મભૂમિ તીર્થસ્થાન મહેળાવમાં યોગીજી મહારાજ, નવમી ડિસેમ્બર ૧૯૬૭ના પ્રભાતમાં ગુરુભક્તિના રસસાગરમાં નિમગ્ન થઈ ભાવવિભોર બન્યા હતા.
હે શાસ્ત્રીજી મહારાજ !
તમારી કસણીમાં હંમેશા રહેવાય, તમારા શરણમાં રહેવાય એવા ગુણ આપજો. તમારા ભક્તોમાં સુહૃદભાવ રહે, મન નોંખું ન રહે, મનુષ્યભાવ ન આવે, સદા દિવ્યભાવ રહે તેવા આશીર્વાદ આપો. 'તુલસી જ્યાકે મુખન સે...' કોઇ સાથે આંટી ન પડી જાય, સંબંધવાળાને ઓળખી શકીએ તેવી બુદ્ધિ આપજો. તમારા જેવી બુદ્ધિ અમને આપજો.
તમે તો સાક્ષાત્ ગુણાતીત સ્વરૂપ છો, તમારામાં મહારાજ અખંડ રહ્યા છે તો તમારામાં નિર્માન, નિર્મોહ વગેરે ગુણૉ છે તે આપો, દ્રષ્ટિ કરીને આપો કે એવા ગુણ શીખીએ.
જગતમાં આપનો મહિમા વધારીએ કે આપ કોણ થઈ ગયા. તમે જે કાર્ય કર્યું તે તો અમારાથી થઈ શકે તેમ નથી. પણ અમે તમારા શિષ્ય છીએ તો શક્તિ આપજો. હજારો મનુષ્યો તમારા સ્વરૂપમાં તણાય તેવી શક્તિ, તેવું જ્ઞાન દેજો. હઠ, માન ને ઈર્ષ્યા અમારામાં કોઇ રીતે આવે જ નહિ. રજોગુણ તમોગુણના ભાવ ન આવે. તમારામાં ગુણ છે તેવા ગુણ આપજો. નિર્દોષબુદ્ધિના ફગવા આ તમારા સ્થાનમાં રહીને આપો.
આજ પ્રાર્થના કરીએ ને કાલે ફરી જઈએ તેવું ન કરીએ એ પ્રાર્થના છે. મન તમારા સ્વરૂપમાં દ્રઢ રહે તેવી તમને પ્રાર્થના છે. તમારા ગુણનું વર્ણન કરી શકીએ તેવી બુદ્ધિ આપજો. ૨૪ કલાક અમારા હૃદયમાં આળસ ન આવે. તમારા ભક્તોનો મહિમા સમજાય, નવરા ન રહી શકીએ. તમારા ગુણનું ગાન કર્યા કરીએ એવી શક્તિ, બળ અને પ્રકાશ આપજો. અમને કથાવાર્તામાં દ્રઢ રુચિ થાય, ગ્રામ્યવાર્તાથી દૂર રહેવાય અને એ ભાવના જ નીકળી જાય ને તમારામાં હેત થાય તેવી કૃપા કરશો. જગતની વાત જિંદગીમાં પણ ન સાંભળીએ.
રાતદી' તમારી પ્રાર્થના કરીએ, તમને સંભારીએ, પણ તમને ન ભૂલીએ. તમારા વિષે જે ભાવના છે તેવી તમારા ભક્તમાં પણ રહે, મનુષ્યભાવ ને આવે. તમે સાક્ષાત્ કૈવલ્યમૂર્તિ છો પણ તમારા ભક્તો પણ સાક્ષાત્ કૈવલ્યમૂર્તિ મનાય તેવા આશીર્વાદ આપજો. આ દેહમાં આસક્તિ ન રહે. તમારા સ્વરૂમમાં જોડાઈ જઈએ તવી પ્રાર્થના. રૂડા ગુણ આવે તે પ્રાર્થના. આપ છોડો તેવા નથી, અમે વળગ્યા રહીએ તો આપ વળગ્યા રહો પણ જો ભક્તનો અવગુણ લઈએ તો શિષ્ય હોઈએ તોપણ છોડી દો. ધર્મ, નિયમ, આજ્ઞા, ઉપાસના સદ્ભાવ ને પક્ષ - એ કાયમ રહે ને દ્રઢ પળાય તે રાત-દી' પ્રાર્થના.
આજે શુભ દિવસ બારસ પર્વણી છે. પા વાગે સવારના પ્રાર્થના કરી છે. તો બુદ્ધિ, શક્તિ, તેજ, પ્રકાશ કાયમ રહે; સત્સંગમાં કાયમ ટકી રહેવાય એવા આશીર્વાદ આપજો. સુહૃદભાવ ભગવાનના ભક્તોમાં રહે તેવા ગુણ આપજો. તમારામાં અનંત-મહોદધિ ગુણ હતા, જે વર્ણવી ન શકાય તેવા ગુણ તમારામાં હતા. તેવા ગુણ અમારામાં આવે તેવા આશીર્વાદ આપજો. નિર્દોષબુદ્ધિ, સુહૃદભાવ, ને ઉપાસના દ્રઢ પળાય તે રાત-દિવસ પ્રાર્થના. અહીં જે ગુણ માગ્યા તે આપજો.
કોઈ દી' મનમુખી ન થઈએ. તમારી આજ્ઞા પળાય. મનમુખીમાં દેખાય ગુણ સારા પણ તે ગુણ ન કહેવાય. હે શાસ્ત્રીજી મહારાજ! તમે પ્રગટ થયા ને મોટા પુરુષને સેવીને ગુણ લાવ્યા, તેવી રીતે તમને એવી પ્રાર્થના કે અમારામાં ગુણ આપજો, દ્રષ્ટિ કરજો, સુખ ને શાંતિ અખંડ રહે.
હે શાસ્ત્રીજી મહારાજ! આપ અહીં પ્રગટ થયા, 'ભારત'ની કથા કરી, ભણ્યા, સૂરત બાપા તેડવા ગયા, ગાડામાં બેસાર્યા, અંતર ફેરવ્યું. નાની ઉંમર છતાં ભગવાન ભજ્યા. આપ ગામમાં ન આવ્યા. બારોબાર સૂરત ગયા. વિહારીલાલજી મહારાજ કહેઃ 'તમને કોઠારમાં રાખવા છે.' છેવટે શ્રીજી મહારાજના મળેલાને કેમ ના પડાય? યજ્ઞ કર્યા, હજારો બ્રાહ્મણો આવ્યા. સંવત્ ૧૯૩૯માં આપને દીક્ષા આપી. ઘણાને સાધુ બનાવે પણ યજ્ઞ ન કરે. પણ આ તો યજ્ઞ કરી સાધુ કર્યા. તેથી 'યજ્ઞપુરુષ' નામ પાડયું. એવી અલૌકિક સ્થિતિ સ્વામીની હતી, એવી આપણામાં આવે તે પ્રાર્થના.
મુંબઈમાં સાધુ ભણે છે તે આચાર્યપદ મેળવે, બુદ્ધિ ખૂપ વધે, આળસ પ્રમાદ જતા રહે, એકાંતિક થાય તેવી પ્રાર્થના.
સ્વામીનું સ્થાન કલ્પવૃક્ષ છે. મનોરથ બધા પૂરા કરો. જ્ઞાનભક્તિના મનોરથ પૂરા કરો. દેવા જ બેઠા છો.
કોઇ દી' ભગવાન ને સંતને ઓશિયાળા ન કરીએ તેવી બુદ્ધિ આપજો. મન બદલે જ નહિ; કાયમ એકબુદ્ધિ રહે તેવી પ્રાર્થના.
અમે એવા પુરુષને સેવ્યા છે તો અંતરમાં ટાઢું રહે છે, અનુવૃત્તિ પાળી છે.
રૂપરામ ઠાકરે મહારાજને ખાંડ ન દીધી તે બળતળા થઈ. રૂડાભાઈએ બળદ ન દીધા તે બળતરા થઈ. એવી બળતળા અમને ન ઉપડે. તમારું જ્ઞાન સમજી શકીએે એવી પ્રાર્થના. બુદ્ધિમાં મૂઢપણું ન રહે, પ્રકાશ થાય તેવા ગુણ આપજો. ગુણ દેવા જ બેઠા છો. દ્રષ્ટિ કાયમ રહે. ભગવાનના ભક્તનો અવગુણ ન લઈએ. ઝીણાભઈએ દેહ મૂક્યો ત્યારે મહારાજે કહ્યું: 'હઠીનું કાંઈ પૂછવું છે?' ત્યારે ઝીણાભાઈએ કહ્યુઃ 'તમારો ભક્ત થશે તો તમે ખબર રાખશો ને ભક્ત નહિ થાય તો હું કહીશ તો પણ ખબર નહિ રાખો.' તેમ હે સ્વામી! અમે તમારા ભક્ત થઈશું તો તમે રાજી રહેશો ને તમારી જાહેરાત નહિ કરીએ તો રાજી નહિ થાઓ. આવો સંબંધ થયો તે શોકમાં ન રહીએ, અલમસ્ત આનંદમા રહીએ. ક્રોધ, દગા, પ્રપંચ, માન ન રહે એ આપો.
દેવા જ બેઠા છો. નિર્દોષબુદ્ધિ, દિવ્યભાવ, સુહૃદભાવ કાયમ રહે. આ મંદિર મોટું થઈ ગયું. દર્શન કરીએ છીએ. સ્થાન થઈ ગયું. સુખ શાંતિ બહુ રહે. વડતાલથી ત્રણ ગાઉ દૂર સર્વોપરિ સ્થાન. અહીં ત્રણ શિખરનું મંદિર થાય ને અક્ષરપુરુષોત્તમ મહારાજ ને આપ બેસો તે પ્રાર્થના.
લાખો માણસના વ્યવહાર સુધારો. ને મોટા પ્રધાનો પ્રોફેસરો અહીં માથા ઘસે એવી પ્રાર્થના. તમારા સંતો દ્વારા સ્વામિનારાયણનું નામ જાગ્રત થાય તે પ્રાર્થના કરીએ છીએ. રાત દી' પ્રાર્થનામાં મંડી પડીએ. આળસ પ્રમાદ ન રહે, નિર્દોષબુદ્ધિ રહે તેવા ગુણ આપજો.
ખેરડી મૂકે, વાંચવા ન દીયે, આળસ મૂકે તે (અવગુણ) ચાલ્યા જાય. તમારી ૨૪ કલાક ભક્તિ કરીએ, તમને અળગા ન મૂકીએ, તમારી મૂર્તિની સમર્તિ (સ્મૃતિ) રહે તેવા ગુણ આપજો. બારશ પર્વણી છે, કામ થઈ જાય.
આ રીતે હે શાસ્ત્રીજી મહારાજ! આપણા ગુણોનું વર્ણન કર્યું, સંભાર્યા, આપે જેમ મહારાજ ને સ્વામીને રાખ્યા હતા તેમ અમે પણ તમને રાખી શકીએ તવી પ્રાર્થના.
તમે નિર્દોષબુદ્ધિના ભૂખ્યા છો. તમારાં ભક્તમાં અમે જો નિર્દોષબુદ્ધિ રાખશું તો તમે અમારી ઉપર હેત રાખશો. એ છોડી દઈશું તો તમે પાંહે (પાસે) નહિ બેસવા દ્યો, કાઢી મૂકશો.
ગુણ આપવા બેઠા છો. ચાલો પાંચ મિનિટ ધૂન કરી લઈએ, આપણામાં ગુણ આપે.

Mathri is a Rajasthani snack. It is a kind of flaky biscuit from north-west region of India. It is now available in almost all sweet shops in India. It is made from flour, Ghee or Oil, water, and, optionally, carom seeds. The creation of this snack was influenced by the need for food that will stay edible for days.
Mathri is served with mango, chilli or lemon pickle along with tea.
It is one of the most popular snacks in North India, and is part of most marriage cooking or religious occasions like Karva Chauth and even as tea-time snack.
The traditional Indian calendar is one long pageant of colorful festivals, a colorful mosaic of festivals, fairs and fasts as diverse as the land itself. The festival and fast of Karva Chauth is celebrated with much exuberance and fanfare. It is considered an important and auspicious day for married women. A married woman celebrates this day with great fervor and dedication, by observing a fast and praying for the long life of her husband. The fast is observed during the month of Kartik on the fourth day of Krishna Paksha (descending moon). This generally falls in the month of October.
The Story Of Queen Veeravati:
A long long time ago, there lived a beautiful girl by the name of Veeravati. She was the only sister of her seven loving brothers, who was married to a king. On the occasion of the first Karva Chauth after her marriage, she went to her parents' house. After sunrise, she observed a strict fast. However, the queen couldn't stand the rigors of fasting and was desperatly waiting for the moon to rise. The seven brothers who loved her dearly, were very disturbed watching the distress of their sister and decided to end her fast by deceiving her. Then the brothers reflected a mirror through Pipal tree leaves. The sister, taken it as moon rise, broke the fast and took food. However, the moment the queen ate her dinner, she received the news that her husband, the king, was seriously ill.
The queen rushed to her husband's palace and on the way, she met Lord Shiva and his consort, Goddess Parvati. Parvati informed her that the king had died because the queen had broken her fast by watching a false moon. However, when the queen asked her for forgiveness, the goddess granted her the boon that the king would be revived. But to achieve this, she would have to undertake the Karva Chauth fast under strict rituals, then only her husband would come top life. Thus, by strictly following all the rituals of Karva chauth, queen Veeravati relivened her husband.
In India, as a part of Hindu and Sikh weddings, henna is applied during wedding ceremonies. Traditionally it is thought that the darker the henna on the bride's hand, the more intensely her husband will love her. It is an important part of many Hindu festivals (such as Karva Chauth and Diwali), as well as during Eid. It is a common practice among Indians, particularly elderly ones, to dye their hair using Henna.
