The original Dash 9 to be featured in Microsoft Train Simulator, BNSF 4723, is seen being featured as the sole DP on a grain train at Kalama, Washington. Seen from a window on Amtrak Coast Starlight 11.

At one time this totem was the world's tallest - or at least the longest. It lay flat on supports near I-5 for about 14 years from 1960 to 1974 when it was set upright in place where it now stands near the Columbia River in Kalama Washington. I remember stopping at Kalama on family trips in the 60's and seeing the carver working on it. It was done by the late Don Lelooska - later called Chief Lelooska. He became widely known for his carving of traditional masks of the Kwakwaka'wakw (Kwakiutl) people and his authentic living history programs that re-enacted ceremonies of that tribe. I attended one of those sometime in the 90's with my wife and kids. Quite a show!

Yes, one wing is actually smaller on the image about half way up. I need to do some research to find out why.
