As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect.

What has happened to me? he thought. It was no dream.

Kafka memorial - Prague

The Kafka Tree

This is an assemblage made of found items and images. I altered an image of Kafka and put it in side a tin box that is turned in to a window with the help of my metal cutting tool. With wire I secured it to a tree limb. I added strips of text from a book on the psychology of Kafka and used vintage bulbs that hang from the branches like strange fruit. On the top is a Metamorphosis beetle that I embellished with metal paints. The piece is ready to hang with a wire on the back. The size is12 inches tall and 8 inches at the widest point.

Inspired in the architecture of Clorindo Testa. Special thanks to Tincho, the best Kafka impersonator of the world.

back with a lot of new stuff... some abstracts, a bit of a departure for me, and then back to some conceptual portraiture later in the week-end and next week.

My friends shooting a movie based on a Kafka story in my building...

It is not necessary that you leave the house. Remain at your table and listen. Do not even listen, only wait. Do not even wait, be wholly still and alone. The world will present itself to you for its unmasking, it can do no other, in ecstasy it will writhe at your feet.

This assemblage was inspired by the works of Franz Kafka. I created the work on a antique book cover. I use various embellishments such as part of a old ruler, a tiny copper hand, old schoolroom scissors, a image of Kafka famed in a rusty found metal piece. A little sltoid tin with a cut window houses a hand-painted faux beetle represent Metamorphosis. A glass orb and a line from the above quote is on the bottom of the work.

I also used paint and inks to further embellish the work.

It's my dear Kafka's birthday today (12th June), and also our fourth anniversary.

"Jemand mußte Josef K. verleumdet haben, denn ohne daß er etwas Böses getan hätte, wurde er eines Morgens verhaftet. Die Köchin der Frau Grubach, seiner Zimmervermieterin, die ihm jeden Tag gegen acht Uhr früh das Frühstück brachte, kam diesmal nicht. Das war noch niemals geschehen." Kafka, Der Process
