Stall Name: Outram Park Fried Kway Teow Mee.
Note by my BB: It occurred to me when I ordered a plate of Char Kway Teow from the famous Outram Park Fried Kway Teow Mee, it has been more than 40 years since I last eaten from their stall. The first time I ate their delicious dish was when I was just a teenager back in the mid 70's. That was when they operated from an old coffee shop at Outram Park housing estate. A number of years ago, all the HDB blocks in Outram Park was demolished. Long before that, Outram Park Fried Kway Teow Mee has moved to a few locations. Now, they are at #02-17, Hong Lim Market and Food Centre. Still with long winding queue and tasted slightly different. What I missed most is their big juicy cockles from time gone by.
Took a small risk in eating this Char Kway Teow as it's oily and not good for me in my current medical condition, but I couldn't resist it. It has been 40+ years. =P
Address: 02-17, Hong Lim Market and Food Centre at Hong Lim Complex, Upper Cross Street.

Char Kuey Teow is basically flat rice noodles stir-fried with shrimp, bloody cockles, Chinese lap cheong (sausage), eggs, bean sprouts, and chives in a mix of soy sauce. You can find it anywhere through Malaysia. However, a great serving of Char Kuey Teow is flavored not only with the freshest ingredients, but equally important is the elusive charred aroma from stir-frying the noodles over very high heat in a well-seasoned Chinese wok. Hope this recipe will help you to make it right.

I usually have lunch here once a week as the wok fired, stir fried flat noodles is one of my favorite local delicacies.
There are better tasting char kway teow dishes out there, but such eateries are usually located very far from home, like the famous Bee Hwa Cafe. In my opinion, this is the second best restaurant serving stir fried flat noodles within a five mile radius from where I live.
It is usually crowded within the lunch time period but I was having a rather late lunch around 4 pm, therefore only one or two people were eating.
First time ever baking kueh lapis. I'm now convinced that I'm too slow in the kitchen. My mum said she took 2 hours to make this (when I was a kid); I took 4 hours yesterday!
