Koh Kret or Koh Kred (Thai: เกาะเกร็ด) is an island in the Chao Phraya River, 20 km north of Bangkok in Nonthaburi Province, Thailand.
The island dates to 1722, when a canal was constructed as a shortcut to bypass a bend in the Om Kret branch of the Chao Phraya river. As the canal was widened several times, the section cut off eventually became a separate island. The island continues to serve as a refuge to the Mon tribes who dominated central Thailand between the 6th and 10th centuries. They have retained a distinct identity in their style of Buddhism and their pottery.

today is a great day for a small trip at the small island 'Koh-Kred', Nonthaburi.
we have to go there by a little boat about 3-5 mins. it's a bit windy and shinny, good for hang around with him.
there are a tons of ceramic, thai sweet and bicycle for rent in the old town. nothing special on this but we are so happy :)

The island of Koh Kred lies just a few miles north of Bangkok proper; so close that many would consider it within the city itself. The island is actually man-made. Its the result of the construction almost 300 years ago of a channel cut through a sharp bend in the Chao Phraya River to shorten the trip up and down river from Ayuthaya.

The island has made a name for itself by producing earthenware pots in a variety of styles. You'll find a number of kilns and shops around the island. They are, in fact, the island's main tourist attraction. You'll find most of the shops on the northeast corner of the island, which just happens to be where the ferry from the river bank docks.
