La vita è uno stato mentale...

Yesterday, I saw that I was not a member of a Flickr group anymore. In short, "kicked-out". I didn't break any rules neither posted anything obscene. I think I have HQ photos (pm me if I don't have). I actually supported this group that from time to time I award photos in their photo pool. I feel a bit bad because I don't know the "why" I was out of the group. I was thinking maybe my work are not good enough? Of course I know beauty is in the eyes of the beholder but doing such act to members reduces motivation, as well as inspiration specially to those who are still learning the art.
Anyway, I took the "higher path" - the path of understanding the admin / admins. If they feel they are gods that they can choose who they want to be part of their group then be it. They don't deserve respect and support at least from me. The fact that I have high regard for their group. Maybe they forgot they were newbies once...
I am thankful that most of the groups I support are not like this group. They are groups that nurture creativity, talent and friendships... And I see beauty in their photo pools. They showcase talents from professional and amateur Flickr users. They create a dynamic "melting pot" of people all over the world from different cultures and walks of life. They give chances to newbies like me to upgrade our game and learn from their works.
Ok, enough said... JUST SHARING MY THOUGHTS 😍 I guess my real life work in community inclusion and diversity just took a bit of me today 😇 thus writing what I observe and feel about this.
Happy Wednesday y'all! We call Wednesdays "little Saturday" here in my place so enjoy 💕

Day 4 of photography in Białowieża Forest, Poland at the Eagle hide. The Buzzard's make sneak attacks of the carrion while the Eagle's attention is elsewhere!

For today's post, we are moving from the rhododendron blooms of northern California to the central coast. To be precise, the rugged coastline of the Montana de Oro State Park. I have been in love with this park since our first visit. While it is primarily famous as a birding spot, the Park is no slouch in terms of coastal scenery. On our first visit to the park, a thick layer of fog thwarted my attempts at sunset photos in the evening, but this time I had better luck.

Our first venture into the beautiful state of Washington was on a summer road trip to Oregon. We had an extra day and decided to drive up to Palouse falls state park and camp there before driving back to Oregon and continuing our trip southwards. Palouse Falls is located in the drier part of the state and on our first visit we didn’t get to see the fantastic greenery that comes to mind when one mentions Washington. So we were a bit disappointed.
Our next trip to the state was in the spring of 2018, and we headed straight to Olympic National Park. Green was everywhere around us, and the hikes we did at this part of the state made us realize that the moniker of evergreen state was justified. One of the photos I had in mind was an image of a green leaf with the bokeh of green behind it, and I kept an eye out for a suitable leaf that would make the photo work. I took tons of photos of leaves, but this little fern stood out the most for me. It’s a basic handheld shot taken at Olympic National Park of a fern branch with a higher aperture than usual.

It was sort of a lame day at the office so when I got home from work I wasn't feeling too inspired for photography.
But, luckily, it's Christmas so I have built in simple shots for these kind of days, so ta-da, an ornament from the dollar store and some bright Christmas bokeh.
Anyway, hope everyone has had a good day.

The Painted Bird movie will premiere in spring 2019. 100 shooting days. It was quite hard work. I'm glad I was there. Looking forward, it will be a great movie.

In the description of an earlier picture, I claimed that twilight is more of a sure bet for colors in the sky than an actual sunset in Arkansas. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not stating that sunsets in Arkansas are bland but that with the amount of cloud cover the area has, the chances of clouds blotting out any color in the sky is high. But once the sun goes beyond the horizon, some color often sneaks in, and you can usually count on a beautiful soft pastel-colored sky.
My standing theory is that during sunset, the flat nature of the grasslands to our west and the cloud cover means punchy contrast, and vivid colors associated with the evening sky are usually absent. But at twilight, I think the light is more colorful because the light is hitting the upper atmosphere. I am not sure if it’s a correct assumption, but it's what I remember from my high school physics class. This image is an excellent example of the superb post-sunset light common to the area, taken at Petit Jean during a beautiful sweltering hot summer evening.
