Klas served delicious Bohemian food from 1922 to 2016. Picture taken in Cicero Illinois.
The restaurant closed in 2016.[1] It was sold to developers in 2019, and faced demolition when the owner applied for a demolition permit.[1][15] However, the demolition permit expired and it was put back on the market in 2021.[1][15] In May 2021, Landmarks Illinois listed the building as one of Illinois's most endangered historic sites.[1][15][19] A coalition of interested parties led by entrepreneur Marek Kutek, American Sokol President Jean Hruby, and immigration attorney Michael F. Jordan had an option to purchase the building by October 2, 2021, and raised money to purchase the building and ultimately restore it and reopen it as a museum, restaurant, banquet hall, and center for immigrant services.[1][20][15] However, their efforts were unsuccessful and the building was demolished in late May and early June 2022.

In September 2020, Orange County Board of Supervisors notified JSX that the airline would be barred from operating flights to John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California, starting January 1, 2021. Wilcox publicly addressed the situation through emails and social media, and a customer outreach program invited fliers to voice support for the carrier to continue its flights to Orange County.
On December 14, 2020, JSX filed a lawsuit against the airport, stating that it has “refused to offer any accommodations” to the carrier and that the airport “discriminatorily chose" the termination "in favor of two large airlines (Spirit and Allegiant Airlines)." The first of the two operates the same routes from SNA as JSX.
On December 23, 2020, the airline was granted a temporary restraining order against SNA, preventing the airport officials from terminating the airline's operations on the planned date of January 1, 2021. A spokeswoman told a news outlet that the airport will comply with the order. JSX continues to operate from the airport.
