This adult Male Common Blue Damsel Fly caught an unsuspecting gnat (I think a larger fungus gnat) whilst I was lining up for a shot. The gnat was struggling but never had a chance. They're ruthless hunters and consume a good number of other invertebrates, helping to control populations.
Yes, they can kill you, some serious poison in these. I was just enjoying my Sigma 1.8 18-35 out in between rain storms in sunny Southern California. I love how the lens renders the image and the vintage like bokeh.

Psycho Killer
Talking Heads
I can't seem to face up to the facts
I'm tense and nervous and I can't relax
I can't sleep, 'cause my bed's on fire
Don't touch me, I'm a real live wire
Psycho killer, qu'est-ce que c'est?
Fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, far better
Run, run, run, run, run, run away
Oh-ho-ho
Psycho killer, qu'est-ce que c'est?
Fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, far better
Run, run, run, run, run, run away
Oh-ho-ho-ho, aye-yi-yi-yi-yi, ooh
You start a conversation, you can't even finish it
You're talking a lot, but you're not saying anything
When I have nothing to say, my lips are sealed
Say something once, why say it again?
Psycho killer, qu'est-ce que c'est?
Fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, far better
Run, run, run, run, run, run away
Oh-ho-ho
Psycho killer, qu'est-ce que c'est?
Fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, far better
Run, run, run, run, run, run away
Oh-ho-ho-ho, aye-yi-yi-yi-yi

What a pleasant surprise to find in my garden this morning, after listening to cicadas: Sphecius speciosus, the Cicada Killer or Cicada Hawk, a large digger wasp, that preys on cicadas.
On the 3pm Spirit of British Columbia sailing from Tsawwassen to Victoria, BC when the Captain spotted this fast moving pod. Very exciting!

Zoo welcomes killer circus elephant
Two circus elephants have arrived at their temporary new home at Dubbo's Western Plains Zoo in far western New South Wales, after one of them crushed its 54-year-old handler on Boxing Day.
The Stardust Circus handler was tending to the two asian elephants, Arna and Gigi, at the Yamba Showground on the NSW North Coast when he was killed.
The circus donated the elephants to the zoo after the tragedy.
Western Plains Zoo's senior elephant keeper, Roger Brogan, says the animals are settling into their new surroundings after yesterday's lengthy road trip.
Mr Brogan says safety measures will be taken while the keepers establish a relationship with them.
"Any new animal that you don't have an established relationship with, particularly elephants, you have to be very careful of," he said.
"At this stage, we'll handle these animals with what we call protective contact.
"[That] means we'll handle them with a barrier or a fence in between us, which adds to the challenge but certainly in this day and age, is done very successfully."

Another figure I took a photo of about two weeks ago that never ended up on my computer. Most of you have probably seen this but whatever.
Killer Croc based off of his appearance in the Animated Series, painted by Dylan.
CN locomotive engineer C.L carefully switches cars at Southwark Yard on a grey morning, building outbound trains including his one, the Southwark - Taschereau 527 transfer run.
C.L started at CN back in 1989, having been the "baby" on the seniority list from 1989 to 2005 on Montreal 12th district. He was forced in 8 different terminal including the remote one of Capreol and Hornepayne in northern Ontario wilderness along with Quebec City and Ottawa and everything between. Running over many subdivisions who were now abandonned and working many jobs now abolished.
When I began at CN, attending my conductor class in Montreal's Taschereau Yard, C.L came thru the door between a move on a yard extra job and after watching all of us simply says out loud to the class "don't worry guys, the first 20 years are the worst...."
I had the pleasure to hold a few job with Killer over the years working as his brakeman and conductor. We even spent a couple of months together on a South Shore commuter run, one of the best jobs we had on Montreal 12th district.
C.L finished his carrer with a much better seniority turn, holding the lucrative West End pool, Montréal to Belleville runs.
He was affectionately named Killer by his co-workers, honouring his short fuse temperament.
Both C.L and our leader that day, SD60F 5546, are now hapily retired.

Got my hands on SFXMinifigures's JLU Killer Frost and I have to say, the quality is deluxe. The white on the chest is a little off, but Lego's done similar over the years. It looks a lot less off in person admittedly.
Either way, these guys make some good stuff. They've got their own site somewhere, as well as an eBay store, so I'd check em out.
Also Ft. the rest of my JLU-y, 2006 Squad, cause that's who she's gonna be hanging with from now on.
Cheers, all.
