I was meeting a work buddy for a trail ride somewhere in Colorado a ways south of the town of Deckers. The Jeep was a '78 Cherokee Sport and the bike is an '87 Kawasaki KDX200. The Jeep is long gone but I still have the bike hiding in a dark corner of my shop.
Scanned sales brochure for the 1995 Kawasaki KDX200. Great bike. Some of those color combos from the early to mid nineties were pretty ridiculous, though!
1987 Kawasaki KDX200 on Red Cone Peak, CO. This is always a great trail ride, just brutal enough that you know you've really done something by the time you get to the summit at 12,801 feet. This was on my first time up in 1988.
I used to spend most of my spare time play riding all around central Colorado and this shot is at an area called "Top of the World" near the little town of Buffalo Creek. I would take a trials bike and an enduro bike and play in a rock pile for a while and then go ride some trails. The white bike is a 1986 Yamaha TY350S observed trials bike and the green one is a 1987 Kawasaki KDX200 enduro. The truck was a 1983 Chevy S-10 Blazer Tahoe 4x4 that also served me well.
Old McDonald had a farm... E I E I O... My herd once upon a time in the early 1990s. Left to right are a 1978 Kawasaki Z1-R KZ1000, a 1987 Kawasaki KDX200, a 1976 Bultaco Sherpa T 350 and a 1975 Bultaco Alpina 350. I got all but the far right one brand new and as of the date this photo posted, I still have them all.
Scanned image from the back side of a sales brochure for the 1987 KDX200. The KDX200 was probably one of the most popular dirt bike lines made. Although recently discontinued, it is a legend in the dirt bike world.
This used to be a common sight in Park County, Colorado, we had some great adventures. I've had the trailer since 1978, bought the bike new in '87 (still have it), but the Blazer is long gone.
Scan of the front of a sales brochure for the 1988 Kawasaki KDX200. 1988 was the last year that the trusty old KDX200 was air cooled. Great bike!
