(Alcedo atthis). I spent a very pleasant couple of hours in the company of this youngster, He did manage to catch a few fish but kept flying to a far off perch to eat them!

This juvenile bald eagle was taken at the Cranberry Marsh Hawk Watch during migration. I happened to be on the beach when it came through and it flew right over my head. Needless to say all the ducks in the marsh took to the air and it was a toss up which I would photograph.

Aulacorhynchus albivitta -juvenile-

(Southern Emerald toucanet / Tucancito esmeralda)

Like other toucans, the Emerald toucanet is brightly marked and has a large bill. The adult is 30–35 cm (12–14 in) long. The sexes are alike in appearance, although the female generally is smaller and slightly shorter-billed.

Juveniles are duller, including the throat, and, depending on subspecies, the black areas of the bill are replaced with dusky or the bill is entirely yellowish.

The Emerald toucanet is a generally common in humid forest and woodland, mainly at higher elevations.

Juvenile Tree Swallows at the park.

Las Palmas Park, Sunnyvale, CA

Although it is already late September, this juvenile Western Bluebird has yet to fully complete its transitiion to adult plumage. Note the white streaks on its auriculars, malar, throat and breast.

This juvenile Trumpeter Swan was out with his sibling and parents for a morning swim.

The soonest cygnets (baby swans) will leave their parents is after around four months, in the late autumn or winter of that same year. It’s more likely that they’ll stay with their parents until the following spring, which is around 8 to 12 months.

Wikipedia: The coppersmith barbet (Psilopogon haemacephalus), also called crimson-breasted barbet and coppersmith, is an Asian barbet with crimson forehead and throat, known for its metronomic call that sounds similar to a coppersmith striking metal with a hammer. It is a resident bird in the Indian subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia. It carves out holes inside a tree to build its nest. It is predominantly frugivorous, but has been observed eating insects, especially winged termites.

After flying out, the young song thrushes are fed for a while by their parents with food.

This one probably has to take care of herself by now, but of course she still hopes that the parents will come with food.

Have a great weekend everyone please be safe out there! :)

This juvenile bald eagle flew over Greenway with a fish then settled on this branch to eat it. Unfortunately, the branch was on the other side of the lake. By the time I had made my way around to it, this is all that was left.

At least 3 have been coming into the garden most days rummaging around in the grass for a few mealworms I through out! They are extremely friendly and come with in a few feet if I'm still! The sun was lighting up the background nicely last night, so i took up position and waited! I had no camouflage, just laying in the grass! I took over 300 shots, a lot where blurred as I was using a slower shutter speed to keep the iso down! Blackbirds do often stop and give you a pose for which I was grateful!
