The stunning 19th century Pena Palace in Sintra, Portugal. I visited two days after it reopened following the coronavirus closure, and I was the only visitor there for about 45 minutes - an amazing experience!

Para se fazer um menino junte duas colheres de sorriso com duas xícaras de gargalhada.
Vá mexendo e acrescente cheiro de terra molhada misturada com cheiro de chicle de bola.
Acrescente ainda muito chocolate, um pouco de castelinho de areia, três pirulitos de uva e um caminhãozinho de imaginação. Deixe descansar embaixo de um pé de manga e junte aos poucos a fidelidade de um cãozinho, a rapidez de um beija-flor, a esperteza de um golfinho. E, claro, não podem faltar todas as cores do arco-íris e uma bacia cheia de pipoca.
Não se esqueça de juntar a sabedoria de um monge, (claro, os meninos sempre sabem de tudo) com uma pitadinha de impaciência, uma dor de barriga passageira e muita, muita amizade, que deve ser acrescentada aos poucos.
Logo depois de um punhado de sonho e um prato fundo de criatividade. Não podem ser esquecidos o pião, a pipa, a bicicleta e um par de chuteiras, pois meninos, não se tornam meninos de verdade sem estes ingredientes.
Por fim, junte o gostinho da vitória em uma final de campeonato, com a maravilhosa sensação de um abraço bem apertado…
Pronto! Essa é a receita para se fazer um menino! Parecem nascer com a missão de transformar a vida em uma grande aventura, de trazerem alegria para o mais triste dos corações e muita, muita esperança para nosso mundo...

Bomba must locate a rogue elephant before a stubborn group of government agents slaughter the entire herd. After surviving a stampede (while tied up), Bomba identifies the guilty elephant and rescues the herd. This was the last installment in the 12-film series based upon Roy Rockwood’s Bomba books. Johnny Sheffield, who, as a child actor played Boy in the Tarzan movies, retired from the screen shortly after making this film.
The Bomba films were low-budget, mostly shot at Malibu, Griffith Park in Los Angeles and Bronson Canyon, and made liberal use of stock footage.
“The Jungle Book” by English author Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936) is a collection of short animal stories with moral lessons that Kipling may have written for his daughter who died at age six in 1899. The stories appeared in magazines in 1893-94 and came out in book form from MacMillan Publishers in 1894. Kipling was born in India, spent the first six years of his childhood there and returned as an adult to work there for about six-and-a-half years. He put into his stories everything he knew about the Indian jungle, the best known of which are the three stories revolving around the adventures of an abandoned boy, Mowgli, who is raised by wolves. Other famous stories in the collection include “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi,” a heroic mongoose, and “Toomai of the Elephants,” a tale of a young elephant handler.
Charles Maurice Detmold and Edward Julius Detmold were English graphic artists, twins, born in 1883. They began drawing animals and plants at a very early age, and at age 13, they debuted at the Royal Academy and the Royal Institute of Watercolor Painters. The watercolor illustrations for Kipling’s “Jungle Book” were published in 1903 by MacMillan as colored lithographs, making the twins “notoriously popular.” Maurice Detmold, perhaps the more gifted of the twins, died at 25 in 1908. Edward Detmold continued as a graphic artist until his death in 1957.

The tiger Shere Khan has gained too much influence over the young wolves and tricked them into betraying their leader Akela. Mowgli decides to set thngs straight by attacking the tiger with Man's weapon, the "red flower".

Anyone who hasn't read the story can be forgiven for being confused by this picture. In the story "Red Dog" Mowgli's wolf pack is threatened by an overwhelming pack of wild dogs. Mowgli lures the dogs over a river cliff that's covered in beehives, after smearing himself in garlic so he won't be stung. Some of the dogs are stung to death, some drown in the fast-flowing river, some are stabbed to death by Mowgli, and once the survivors come ashore they have to fight a bloody battle with Mowgli and the wolves.
Somehow I can't see Disney filming that scene, can you?
