Today we celebrated my sister's 19th birthday. We went out to dinner at a nice restaurant, and it was pretty enjoyable.

Don't you hate when that happens? A silly picture for a day lacking inspiration.

After weeks of searching, I've finally layed my hands on a Mario Kart game for Wii, with these awesome Wii Wheels. It's a ton of fun, and I definitely recommend it to everyone! If you can find it, that is.

Friday!!! woooohooo. Peanut butter brownies with chocolate topping. NOM NOM!!! this made me very happy. In fact, I left work early, and skipped the gym just so I could make these :D

Loving having a kitchen to cook in again, and now that I have slightly more time without the rowing, I can actually spend time making things not just wolfing down any food that I can get my hands on really quickly!!! Off home for the weekend. Well, home, then to cambridge, then back to southampton. A weekend of driving. On a bank holiday weekend. Not such a good idea. Oh well, I have peanut butter brownies to keep me company on the drive home :)

Sister-in-law came back home for a week, I got to see her on her first night home. The rest of the week she's busy and she flies back to USA on Sunday morning.

This is like several photo lessons rolled into one. First, I've learned to overexpose photos with a lot of white, which fool the camera's light meter. I might have over(under?)done it, though! Plus, I liked the repeating oval shape.

Still not sure it's as compelling a photo as my outtake for today, though.

snow snow snow snow snow snow snow.

about 6 inches of it. That never happens in Southampton!! :) I spent a while playing in it like a small child would. I love winter when it's properly winter like this!

Apologies to those of you who have a real thing about eyes (I know lots of people who do!), but was bored, and so thought I'd use the little point-and-shoot camera for it's awesome Macro. The rest of the camera is pretty rubbish now after it's been dropped a few times (much to my sadness), but the macro is still pretty good :)

Couldn't mention tents at the party without the obligitory crazy camping shot. It was seriously cold that night, even for the UK in summer. I'm wearing almost all my clothes, including a pair of wellies stolen from a friend for some much needed extra warmth!! The odd bout of bouncing on the bouncy castle did help with warming us up though!

I know, I know, it's not Christmas yet, or even December, but the Christmas cupcake was 30p cheaper than the non-Christmas cupcake!! :) and it did taste so good. mmmmm chocolatey goodness. It's so cold here!! Winter has definitely arrived, and much as I complain about it, I do secretly like it :) woolly hat, scarf, red winter coat, winter meals and drinks. mmmmmmmmm.

You get your hair cut & coloured for the first time in almost a year!

For TRP - It's a good day when..

For TOTW - Tiny words

Haven't done one of these in a while, and I felt our little back garden should get a mention. Note to self. Probably better not to try this in a skirt in future......

Haha. This is the aftermath of our "after party" at the end of racing on the Sunday. Basically it started with drinks at the racecourse, and then everyone piled onto the bus into Amsterdam (I feel so sorry for the people who were already on that bus as we were LOUD as a group). Then into a very random little club as the one we were "supposed" to be going to actually turned out to be shut. Club we went to was the most ridiculously sweaty place ever, not helped by the majority of team GB rocking up in one fell swoop :)

Journey back to the hotel was possibly the most hilarious journey back home from a night out........ tram back into the centre of Amsterdam, train from Central station out to the schipol airport, and then free shuttle bus back to our hotel. Took about an hour. But on the plus side, it cost us 2.60 euros, instead of a 45 euro taxi ride! :)

This is the best part of rowing...... the eating afterwards. Double sessions this morning, so 4 hours of training :( crumpets and honey before I went to work :) still feeling horribly jetlagged, so have been banned from training tomorrow till I manage to get myself sorted out. Not looking forward to the next few weeks of hardcore training and still trying to fit in all the work I desperately need to do! :(

and apologies for the lack of posting - I don't have internet at home, and I don't like doing this at work :(

Staff vs Postgrad students cricket match today. This is my friend Tommy. Realised we both had Ray-Bans on...... still rocking the pair that I have adopted from a friend.... ssshhhh.......

It was actually sunny at the cricket for a while. A very small while. But a little bit. Needless to say, despite some good cricketers on the student side, the staff gave us a good thrashing again this year.

Apologies for the lack up uploads, have just got back from Amsterdam, and have nearly a week's worth of 365 photos, cricket photos, and Amsterdam photos to sort through!!

Amsterdam Schipol Airport Ibis hotel. Home for the duration of our stay in the 'Dam. Funky red lights around the building at night. Absolutely massive hotel. Almost all the EUSA athletes were staying here which was quite nice, and the breakfast buffet was awesome. Spoilt. Rotten. This was first day there, after an afternoon session on the Bosbaan rowing lake in preparation for the first race on Friday.

For TRP - Show Stories.

This one of the very few pairs of shoes that came with me in the cross Pacific move. I love them to death.

Taken during our "day off" from the rowing. I say "day off" because we still had an early morning outing, and an evening outing, but we had the majority of the day free to leave the lake and go and explore :) rented bicycles and cycled into Amsterdam, and did a lot of sightseeing. Generally anything that was free. This is Sophie, who is in my crew. She was my sightseeing buddy as the other two met up with their families on our "day off".

After yesterday's mud-table adventures, the boys' shoes needed to be left out to dry. I don't know why the three pairs of shoes across the deck rail tickled me so, but I loved how they looked in the early-morning light. I've come a long way to be the mom I am, and something about this tableau captures how much I love our life.

Not to mention the fact that it's nice to get the shot of the day out of the way at ten of six in the morning!

Found my glow in the dark poi the other day when I was rescuing a load of stuff from home to go back to Southampton. Did find my fire poi too, but haven't got around to lighting them up and having a play yet :D

SOOC

Went into work at 8am, did all the adminy type stuff I needed to do, and then proceeded to spend most of the day catching up with people at work that I haven't seen for 3 months. Did manage to get as far as printing out some stuff, and re-organising some work folders etc, but not really all that productive. Training again, feels like someone has been hitting me in the ribs and back, super sore today, but not any choice but to work through it!! Ouch
