CaterParrott Railnet Trian 8 is southbound at The Rock, Georgia on June1, 2021.

It has certainly been a different 3 months that's for sure. Challenging and frustrating at times, disheartening at others. But as we are slowly starting to find our new normal I can't help but think how these past few months have changed me for the better. I really came to realize what I miss most in my life aren't things but people. I now know that most projects and books don't need a time line. It's OK to just enjoy the journey no matter how long it takes. I have learned just how much photography and writing grounds me and helps me cope. Unfortunately I have also learned just how hopeless I am at jigsaw puzzles, but that's for another day. I have enjoyed the talents of others through their postings and messages of love and support that adorn the windows and driveways of their homes. I know who the true heroes in life are. But most importantly I have learned to never take anything for granted as it can all be gone in the blink of an eye.

H-GALGFD1-04A rolls by Gregory as the day comes to a close. It was a miracle that I found any sun at all. I spent majority of the day waiting and chasing this train under dark and cloudy skies. I was about to give up when I shot him in Elk River.

I just had a feeling that if I went west, that I could possibly get rewarded. Driving west of Big Lake, I noticed a clearing line. I made some phone calls and it was confirmed that it there were clear skies west of St Cloud.

I took a shot of them at Halfway Crossing and overexposed them just a tad, so I had to race to Gregory to try and get something decent. I beat them there by 15 seconds and this is what I got.

Two fresh SD70MACe's lead the Galesburg-Grand Forks manifest at Gregory. After this train had cleared, there were more westbounds, but the light was fading and the leaders were less than ideal.

Bargmann approved?

Waiting

After waiting on an oil empty, the Hastings Job gets authority to enter the main and head up to do more switching in Cottage Grove. Lately the power for this job has been an SD30ECO, but with the ECO's getting serviced, CP assigned one of a few SD60M's they have on their roster to do the job.

Special thanks to the crew for being very friendly and accommodating while I was taking photos.

This little guy is Oscar, but we like to call him Booba. (It's a french singer, kind of like Fifty Cent and those kind of stuff...) Anyway !

A 100° panorama of noctilucent clouds seen the night of June 1-2, 2020, first at dusk and then later, here, at dawn at about 3:15 a.m. MDT. This was from home in southern Alberta at latitude 51° N. This was the earliest in the season I had ever seen NLCs; they are more prevalent after summer solstice. Dark nearby weather clouds are silhouetted in front of the NLCs, which are at a height of some 80 km above the Earth near the edge of space. Note the north-south wavy structure and east-west herringbone patterns. Capella is near centre just above the edge of the NLCs.

This is a 7-section panorama with the 85mm Rokinon lens and Canon 6D MkII camera, for 3.2 seconds each at f/2.8 and ISO 400. Stitched with Adobe Camera Raw.

One of a few that remain on the roster and is still in service. SOO 6053 leads CP 287 here in St Paul Park on June 3rd. I'm lucky this train came when it did. I was in between heavy rain periods. Soon after the power went by the crossing, it started to downpour.

Thank you to Mike Bargmann, Chris Laskowski, and Douglas Hildebrandt for all of your help.

The amazing light show last Friday night (May 31, 2013) into the wee hours of June 1, 2013, was filled with rich tones and dancing ribbons on occasion here at Trout Lake near Mount Adams, Washington. This shot was taken about 2:30 am PST.. I stayed there all night capturing images and also simply soaking up the night sounds of the lake.

June1.09. Explore #328.Arrived on their own, some may call weeds, other call wild flowers. When we left school my sister studied Botany and I studied Horticulture so we had friendly arguments about whether a plant was a weed or a wild flower. The answer of course is that a weed is a plant out of place, that is, that it is not wanted there. I'm happy for these to stay until I need the space.

In homeopathy the common daisy, Bellis perennis is commonly known as the gardener's remedy, speedwell, the little blue flower needs very careful handling for at the merest touch the petals will fall off. I think the Angelica is a garden variety but it appeared on its own in the middle of one of my raised vegetable beds. It can stay there until some leeks are ready to take its place.

Due to long term health problems I am not taking on any more contacts. Please see my profile for more details.

I am very grateful for single invites but really don't want multiple ones. PLEASE no personal graphics, spinning or flashing comments. They stress my eyes

This set is from June1, as lights danced in the early morning sky while I danced around my camera in the silence of a mountain night... which is never really silent, but alive with the songs of the stars, the movement of nocturnal birds and animals and water. The sort of silence that refreshes my spirits even without the Aurora dancing overhead!

ahhh, a night when color filled the sky to the north of Mount Adams, in southern Washington. What a great night!

You will be seeing more of these, along with the ones I shot on June 7 in Snowden and Trout Lake..

AR365 ~ Starts with M(e) and ODC2 ~ Eccentricity ~ June 1

Characteristics of Eccentrics

Psychologist Dr. David Weeks mentions people with a mental illness "suffer" from their behavior while eccentrics are quite happy. He even states eccentrics are less prone to mental illness than everyone else.

According to studies, there are distinctive characteristics that differentiate a healthy eccentric person from a regular person or someone who has a mental illness (although some may not always apply). The first five are in most people regarded as eccentric:

* Nonconforming attitude

* Idealistic

* Intense curiosity

* Happy obsession with a hobby or hobbies

* Knew very early in his or her childhood they were different from others

* Highly intelligent .........................( I'M GOING WITH THIS ONE !!!)

* Opinionated and outspoken

* Unusual living or eating habits

* Not interested in the opinions or company of others

* Mischievous sense of humor

* Usually male, the eldest, youngest or an only child

I'm going with #6 in the selfie above. I always thought that people with big heads were intelligent .
