St. Augustine Lighthouse is located on the north end of Anastasia Island in Saint Augustine, Florida. Built in 1874 of brick, the Saint Augustine Lighthouse is 163 feet high making it the eighth tallest lighthouse in the United States today. Saint Augustine Lighthouse is run by the non-profit St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum Inc. and is open to the public and visitors can climb the 219 steps to the top for great views from this fun tourist attraction in Northeast Florida.
Funny Story: So, I heard these two below climbing up, talking
loudly and laughing, and I wanted to get their hands on the
curved handrail so they'd be visible. Check. - Only problem; I
had no strap on my heavy camera, and I had to hold it pointing
straight-down for a few seconds, thinking if I drop this camera
it's going to splat on that linoleum-tile floor 75 feet down there!
It was hot and humid, and it felt slippery!?! - Click. Got it. LOL

*[left-double-click for a closer-look - TWINS - waiting for Mom]
*[quite surprisingly they turn deep blue as a full-grown adult]
The Tricolored or Louisiana Heron does not swim but wades in deep water. Audubon called this bird "Lady of the Water" because of its grace and beauty. It resembles the Great Blue Heron but is much smaller and more delicate. Its white belly clearly distinguishes it from all other Herons. It strides briskly through the water, sometimes running after fish and catching them with a thrust of the bill. This action is so fast that it can only be caught with a shutter speed of 1/4000th of a second! Their chicks have a reddish coat but turn blue with age. The name Louisiana Heron is very misleading because
it also lives in coastal states from North Carolina to Texas, and especially in Florida. - A Very Elegant Bird - Fun to Observe

In Duncan Rawlinson's arresting capture, the sky over the illustrious Boldt Castle transforms into an astral canvas of radiant hues, under the spell of Independence Day fireworks. The castle, a timeless symbol of architectural grandeur, serves as the perfect backdrop to this incandescent spectacle, it's spires reaching up as if trying to touch the stars born of fire.
The fireworks, meticulously choreographed by Majestic Fireworks, Inc., explode in a riot of colors, their reflections dancing on the river's surface. They cast a fantastical glow that redefines the nighttime panorama, their fleeting brilliance captured in an eternity by the click of Rawlinson's shutter.
Around the edges of the frame, silhouettes of boats pepper the landscape, their twinkling lights a terrestrial echo of the skyward spectacle. The presence of these vessels, some privately owned, others ferrying excited spectators from various tour companies, adds a human scale to the grandiosity of the scene, a testament to the collective awe inspired by the display.
The image, while a beautiful visual testament to the annual event sponsored by the Alexandria Bay Chamber of Commerce, serves as more than a keepsake. It is a tribute to the shared moments of celebration, the joy of freedom, and the vibrant community spirit of Independence Day.
Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
