Another great example of a big old Joshua tree. They really are not trees at all. This one has lots of flowers. 2019 was a good year for Joshua blooms.
(Joshua Tree National Park, California) - Do you ever catch yourself approaching a on-ramp to a major interstate on the way home - and thinking would it not be great to just get on the big road and drive and drive far far away? It does not have to be planned. Indeed it is better if its not. The idea is not to have a goal or a specific purpose but simply to be free enough to explore and improvise. To be able to take any road or stop anywhere whenever you want.
Growing up we never did this except to some extent when we were on a European road trip. There was always a goal. In Norway people frown upon you for just driving. It pollutes. It is expensive. It is wasteful.
I say so what? How many things would I have missed if I never just took to the open road and roamed at my wills desire? One of things I LOVE about this country is that it is so easy to explore things and there is so much open road.
Anyway, I'm yearning for the open road right now.
