We ate at the Lao Garden restaurant (creative name) in Vientiane, Laos. It overlooks the Mekong River, with Thailand just a few hundred meters away on the other side. Sitting here, I can set my phone to the 3G network of my Thailand provider and talk without roaming charges ! Lol ! The restaurant had this small structure sitting on the river with a band playing Lao songs.
Looking across Princes Street after dark, at the West End, past the old Fraser's department store, now home to the Johnny Walker Whisky Experience on the right foreground, and behind and centre, Ryan's bar.
Improvised night shot on the way home from work this evening, resting the camera on the edge of the box that houses the "press to cross" button on the pedestrian crossing.

Seems like the Golden Man is in a hurry, judging by the long strides.
He didn't respond to my questions as to who he is and where he is going; so it is no use asking me about him!
Edited: Identified by Achim as Johnny Walker without his walking stick.

Something I’ve done some years back. The whiskey can serve as a medicinal ointment in case of a gash, cut or scratch. It actually works!
Resplendent with her prominent white painted fins, the Royal Air Force 'Battle of Britain Flight's' wonderful Avro Lancaster B.1 PA474/WS:J carrying the 'Johnny Walker' nose art and mission marks performing at Shoreham's 1999 RAFA Air Show
It's just been announced that again there will be no RAFA show staged at Shoreham this year.
Personally I doubt there ever will be one there again ....

Entre aquests del aparador, em quedo amb els Islay, com el Ard Beg o el Laphroaig.

A Whisky shop in Leadenhall Market, the City of London. Among those in the image, I go for the Islays, like ArdBeg or specially Laphroaig.

Few cities in the world fire the imagination like Bangkok. Ornate palaces that host royal processions, Buddhist temples that witness monks chanting ancient sutras, canals that lead to a maze of water markets, night bazaars that never sleep - have long proved a powerful magnet for travellers. In this sprawling metropolis, Banyan Tree Bangkok, a 5-star luxury hotel in Sathorn road, offers a spectacular rooftop restaurant and bar - Vertigo Grill & Moon Bar on the elevated 61th floor. The hostess Suritawa welcomes us with the hospitality Thailand is famous for. The Moon Bar is a completely open air restaurant and cocktail bar with unobstructed 360 views of the city below. It is breathtaking. The greater Bangkok area has a population of around 12 million. This has in turn shifted the country from being a rather homogeneous Thai population to an increasingly vibrant mix of Western, Indian and Chinese people, giving the city a cosmopolitan status. Bangkok is known in Thai as Krung Thep Mahanakhon. The ceremonial name translates it to The city of angels.
Photo on the 62th floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel- Sathorn road in Bangkok at Moon Bar opening hours: 6.30pm - 11pm (weather permitting). I think it is fair to say i have stepped into many a bar in my lifetime and it's quite difficult to impress me. This bar blew my cotton socks off. Kanitha enjoyed her amazing cocktail ' Romance on the Moon' which arrived in a glass bowl on a silver tray with dry ice steaming out from it, orchids, orange and a rose finished it off. According several websites It's one of the best bars in the world!
no time to set up a fairy tale today... so i had a look at my drinks cabinet and let alcohol inspire me. i mean, metaphorically

Today's prompt was to take a photo of your subject close up, then step back and take another photo from a good bit farther away. Assess the amount of focus between the two objects.
Aperture is one way to manipulate depth of field. The other important factor that goes into depth of field is the distance between the lens and the object you are focusing on.
I found it interesting that both photos were taken at f/3.5 yet at the distance further away, both bottles are in focus.
Lesson of the day: The closer to the lens what you are focusing on is, the more room you have for blur far behind.
[f/3.5, 1/13 sec., ISO 800]
Here's to a relaxing weekend and a Happy Father's Day to all dads out there! Cheers!

. . . Arsenic and Old Lace?
A collaborative effort, of a kind. Taken by DanielKHC recently in Bangkok, using my new D300. A trial, of kinds, so to speak, of the camera, and whether he should consider one. Shot at 200mm (300mm, 35mm equivalent)and 1600iso (yes, really).
So, it's question time: Daniel is debating whether to move on from his Sony to the Nikon (not any old Nikon, but the D300!).
Should he? He'll appreciate all advice!
Write your answer, below!
Jan 18 2008 (Project 018/366):
After a very long and weary week, I needed a drink with a kick!
This took quite a few takes with a flash light lemme tell ya...and timing the ice to drop when the timer went off wasn't cake either but I was happy with the result.
Strobist: One flashlight directly above the glass. Any tips would be appreciated as this was my first attempt at a strobist type shot.

This memorial commemorates Captain Frederic John "Johnny" Walker of the Royal Navy, who was the most successful British submarine hunter in World War II.
He commanded the 36th Escort Group which was based in Liverpool, the home of the Western Approaches Command.
Took a moment to edit a picture....It's raining on the French Riviera but I catch interesting sceneries there.

This view of the “L.A. Roadhouse Route 66” bar at Los Angeles International Airport reminded me a little of Edward Hopper’s painting “Nighthawks”...
The unique flavor of Johnnie Walker Green Label is a delicate blend of four key signature styles, represented by Talisker, Linkwood, Cragganmore and Caol Ila. The individual characteristics of these mature malt whiskies are perfectly balanced to bring together intense aromas of crisp cut grass, fresh fruit, wood smoke, pepper, deep vanilla, and sandalwood. It creates a depth of character that just isn’t possible to achieve with one malt whisky alone. ~ www.johnniewalker.com/en-us/our-whisky/johnnie-walker-lab....

You know...
when I look back at that moment I don't remember how it all happened.
It all went down so fast.
It was like taking some psychadellic drug and having a crazy dream after you fall asleep having knocked back half a bottle of Nyquil and using a Salvador Dali painting for a blanket and leaving the tv on after eating a burrito.
How's that for an effective metaphor?
You know I dig Friday-Love!
I'm cool with strange love too.
How about some Strange-Friday-Love?
Yeah.
Thassjuswhatchoo need.
Everybody loves some strange love every once in a while.
I think it was just after noon on the streets of Chicago.
That puts it closer to midnight if you go by Grenwich Mean Time.
But this guy...
I think he was celebratin' Bangkok's New Year.
Because he was twelve hours early if you go by my watch.
I'd bet all the money I got in the bank that there was no way he was awake for Chicago's New Year.
He was in the bag at noon.
Which is cool...
because he was walikin'...
and it was New Years Eve...
and because he was a friendly kind of drunk.
Now that I look back on it...
I think dude was out all night celebratin' New Years Eve Eve.
He asked me where Giordano's Pizza was.
Dude wanted some deepdish.
Chicago style.
That's the best deep dish there is.
Obviously the man had taste.
And a friend named Johnny Walker.
What happened next is gonna be a lot of fun for me and my hot therapist to work out over the next few months.
She reminds me of this teacher I had a crush on in the fifth grade.
I tell her that.
She never wants to talk about it though.
I think she has issues or something.
She's gonna like this one.
She tries not to smile when I tell her about all the weird shit that happens to me...
but I see it.
Secretly I think she wants to go out and shoot some street with me.
Let that 'inner bad girl' out.
'Did you pet the weasel' I can imagine her asking.
'How did the weasel make you feel?'
You know I hope you're feelin' the love today.
It's Friday.
Sweet Friday-Love all over you.
Good vibrations.
Strange love.
We made it through the holidays...
recovered...
now it's time to getcher freak on and get out and feel the love!
Strange Friday-Love!
