After a job well done Woody gives Blockhead a hifive to seal the accomplishment.

"Charlie Watts was never the most flashy drummer. He wasn't known for the frenzied solos of Cream's Ginger Baker, or for placing explosives in his kick drum like The Who's Keith Moon. Instead, he was the subtle, stoic heartbeat of The Rolling Stones for almost 60 years......"

Hope everyone's ready for some more barbershops, because here they come!

This is the third in a series of images I was allowed to take over the course of a long afternoon at the Allstate Barber College in downtown Cleveland, OH. For the past 35 years, All State has been serving the community, providing experience for hundreds of barbers each year while offering quality, discount hair styling to all that stop in.

You are seeing lots of work shots because I no longer have a life outside of the dam. I guess this, too, shall pass.

This week's (8/10/14 - 8/16/14) Staff/Volunteer of the Week for Rikki's Refuge is BRITTNEY WILLIAMS! Thank you Brittney, for everything you do! We appreciate you!

Rikki’s was blessed and impressed on February 2nd when Brittney showed up to do her working day interview. Would this petite, lovely young lady with a huge smile be able to handle all this physical work? Yes she could! She swung the 50 pound sacks of feed up on your shoulder. She lifted 40 pound litter boxes one after the other. And she kept saying, Oh my gosh, I love it here! And her big beautiful smile and lovely happy attitude kept us smiling all day. We were thankful when her answer to, “Can you see yourself doing this all day everyday?” was a resounding YES, YES, YES, CAN I PLEASE? And that’s how Brittney joined the Rikki’s team !!!

It’s hard to believe Brittney has been with Rikki’s only six months. She loves her job and her job loves her. She has smiling, purring, barking, mooing charges to prove it !!!

Brittney always goes above and beyond to care for the animals in a caring loving manner. In the short time she’s been with us, Brittney has been promoted to 9th Life Specialist due to her outstanding quality of work and heartfelt caring of “her” animals. Most of her work is with cats and she’s a true Cat Whisperer. She is cross trained on every animal area at Rikki’s and helps out where ever needed. She can chase down a sheep with the best of ‘em !!!!

When Brittney is off duty she is a Cheer Coach and mentors younger ladies. They’re a very special group of glas to have Brittney to learn about making the most of life from.

Her smile and happy helpful attitude makes her a wonderful person to work with no matter what your species.

Thank you Brittney, for being an important part of Rikki’s.

Job well done !!

They managed to fix the machine that might have destroyed the world !

The adventure continues :-D

Nothing is quite as exhilarating as watching men at their best...And men are at their,' best' when they are working...Here John McCordy of Othello, Washington took the day off from work to come and help me pour concrete...John is on the end of a 26' wide power roller screed that pulls and rolls concrete to a smooth finish in minutes.... Just before the first snow of winter, I was pouring a slab of concrete 26'wide and 120' long for an addition to my mini-storage. John was kind enough to come give me a hand. We poured 5++ t/l's of concrete...There were five of us including my son's ...My Job is the "shoot man" I keep the shoot moving and the concrete running out of the truck smoothly...the trucks coming, the palms greased....and the beer flowing...

"You will receive praise for a job well done." Quite fitting to get in a fortune cookie on New Years Eve!! Now, I wonder what I will do to receive praise for a job well done???

I got home to a box filling up my mailbox... confused, I had no clue what it could possibly be. After I pried it out of said mailbox, I quickly checked the return address. I was immediately giddy... pulled into the driveway and tore into the box without hesitation. I actually sat in the car checking it out a bit, in amazement!

I can't believe it's already here!

Pete finished off an astonishing year of 365Days (self-portraits). An early stand-out fave of mine, among the many doing the project, there was no question in my mind as to whether or not his work would one day find it's place on my "coffee table". I'm proud to have this to share & display!

Thanks, Pete.

My son really loves his goalie coach. This was taken during the latest clinic that Steve held here in Wichita. Steve says that Lane is improving and is doing a great job.

At last.

Today's lesson was grouting. You definitely have to be in the mood for this as it is a tedious process. It takes ages to wipe away the grout but then at some point its done.

So...the final result of my first ever completed mosaic.

If you are curious to see the steps behind it, I blogged my progress at mosaik.wordpress.com/

Submitted to Flickr Monthly Scavenger Hunt for December 2007 under Job well done

A fine web indeed, but I'm not sure if I were a spider I'd have set up home on next door's clothes line. My friendly neighbourhood spider was there for weeks though.

Day Three Hundred Sixty Five: December 12th, 2007.

One year.

365 days.

A self-portrait each day.

I am done.

And I find the moment anticlimatic.

There's a small sense of accomplishment for finishing something that I started a year ago. Though I've never really gotten over my first failed attempt at it.

But I did finally get it right and though there were times I had some frustrating late night sessions going back through tags, my self-portraits were consecutive.

But celebrate?

No. There's nothing to celebrate.

I did learn some things through the process and more importantly, I've made some wonderful new Flickr friends. That makes it all worthwhile.

But mostly, I'm just relieved.

Relieved to have it over. Relieved to not HAVE to take a picture of myself on December 13th or December 14th or December 15th.

Maybe I should try going a year without taking ANY self-portraits?

Before I started this project, I certainly took self-portraits but NEVER with the frequency that this inspired.

I'm relieved to be able to crawl back into my cave for as long as I want.

I continue to be amazed by the creativity that I see in the 365 group.

I just don't have it.

Not when it comes to self-portraits.

But the whole point of my doing this WASN'T to be creative. My 365s were supposed to replace my blog. I intended to use them in that manner and many days, I did. Some of the time I felt comfortable enough to be completely truthful. Most of the time, I found myself holding back quite a bit.

I may just return to blogging in 2008.

This project and this year is done.

And I am relieved.

Yes, Monday night is stir-fry night here at Chez Alans. Fine result, even if I didn't have time to tidy the bowl after serving. That would be paying far too much attention to detail!
