7 Days of Shooting - week 23 "Christmas & the Festive Period" - Shiny Sunday.
...I had to begin this week with a laugh, and I just couldn't resist this...lolol. My track break is over, I'm back to school tomorrow, so my time on Flickr will be limited.
Here's Chuck Berry, and ~~~ My Ding-a-ling ~~~
I want to hear you all sing along...hahahahahah.
I hope you all have a terrific week, my friends. Please keep your comments clean.
Thank you.
PADDY: *Quietly sips tea and enjoys the peace and quiet.*
SCOUT: “Hullo Paddy!”
ROSIE: “Hullo Paddy!”
PADDY: *Looks first at Scout and then at Rosie.* “Oh! No, no, no, no! No Scout… err… Scoutpunzel, I am not playing a mean old witch again!” *Shakes head vehemently.*
SCOUT and ROSIE: *Giggle together.*
ROSIE: “Don’t worry Paddy, Scout and I aren’t playing Scoutpunzel.”
SCOUT: “Well, today anyway.” *Giggles.*
PADDY: “I see one long strand of hair on your wig, Scout.”
SCOUT: “Well, that is to remind me of Scoutpunzel, Paddy, but I promise that Roise and I aren’t playing Scoutpunzel today.”
PADDY: “You aren’t, Scout and Rosie?”
SCOUT and ROSIE: “No Paddy!”
PADDY: “Phew!” *Sighs and wipes forehead with paw.* “That’s a relief.”
SCOUT: “No, we have a new faerie tale that we’re playing, today.”
ROSIE and SCOUT: *Nod enthusiastically.*
PADDY: “So,” *Takes a breath.* “Dare I ask what faerie tale you are reenacting today?”
SCOUT: “Sleeping Rosie, Paddy!”
PADDY: “Sleeping Rosie?” *Looks confused at Rosie.* “But Scout, Rosie isn’t sleeping.”
ROSIE: *Giggles.* “Oh Paddy! I haven’t fallen asleep yet.”
SCOUT: “But when she does, it will require prins Peter, who is also mijn beste vriend, to come and kiss her 10,000 times with soft snuffly kisses to wake her up again.”
ROSIE: “Oh I can’t wait for that!” *Giggles.*
SCOUT: “Come and see, Paddy!” *Looks at biscuits on plate.* “Hhhmmm… all this planning is making me hungry, Rosie. Let’s take a biscuit each.” *Picks up biscuit.* “Grumbly tummy, Paddy! Grumbly tummy!” *Rubs tummy vigorously.*
ROSIE: “Oh, a capital idea, Scout!” *Picks up biscuit.* “Grumbly tummy, Paddy! Grumbly tummy!” *Rubs tummy vigorously.*
PADDY: *Follows Scout and Rosie, eating the remaining biscuit as he walks.*
This beautiful nursery tea set is made by the Shell China company in the 1910s. It features six cups, saucers (not all the set is being used today) as well as a teapot, milk jug and sugar bowl, all gilt and featuring different nursery rhymes including: “See Saw Margery Daw”, “Jack and Jill”, “This Little Pig Went to Market”, “Taffy was a Welshman”, “Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross”, “Little Jack Horner”, “Old Mother Goose” and “I Saw a Ship a Sailing” amongst others. Only the pieces featuring “Old Mother Goose” are being used today. It is the prequel set to the Shell China nursery and faerie tale tea sets I have from the 1920s and 1930s. The designs are very Edwardian and the set is made up of smaller pieces.
My Paddington Bear came to live with me in London when I was two years old (many, many years ago). He was hand made by my Great Aunt and he has a chocolate coloured felt hat, the brim of which had to be pinned up by a safety pin to stop it getting in his eyes. The collar of his mackintosh is made of the same felt. He wears wellington boots made from the same red leather used to make the toggles on his mackintosh.
He has travelled with me across the world and he and I have had many adventures together over the years. He is a very precious member of my small family.
Scout was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences. Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.
Rosie is Scout's cousin, because like Scout, she is a free trade knitted bear from Africa. She was made in Kenya by one of the Kenana Knitters, Martha Wanjira. She is made from home spun and dyed wool. She was a gift to me from two very dear friends, including the one who gave Scout to Paddy.
Happy New Year! We successfully made it to the end of our project. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in 2019!
Thought I'd try for a macro shot, after all, I am an Admin in Closer and Closer Macro Photography, LOL. You'd think I would be doing more of the macro photos but nooooo, I am busy photographing cute grandchild photos and whatnot. Anyway, If you happen across this image, please consider yourself wished a very merry Christmas and holiday season, whatever your traditions. Thank you for your friendship and support all these years.
When Christ said that man does not live by bread alone, he spoke of a hunger. This hunger was not the hunger of the body. It was not the hunger for bread. He spoke of a hunger that begins deep down in the very depths of our being. He spoke of a need as vital as breath. He spoke of our hunger for love.
Love is something you and I must have. We must have it because our spirit feeds upon it. We must have it because without it we become weak and faint. Without love our self-esteem weakens. Without it our courage fails. Without love we can no longer look out confidently at the world...
But with love, we are creative. With it, we march tirelessly. With it, and with it alone, we are able to sacrifice for others.

Opposed umbrellas on both sides of the camera... close to the camera. I moved her away from the wall a bit and got some great shadow action. Even power both strobes, umbrellas are my very small ones and the light is very directional from camera. Right umbrella is high to the left, left umbrella is lower to the right. This gives some highlight to her left leg and a different highlight to the right side of her face.
And no, I didn't play that song over and over again. I wouldn't do that to anyone. Instead I played my favorite... "Love Stinks".
Photoshop includes texture, small amount of highlight painting and a bit of desaturation of color.
I did buy this little cheesecake for my wife, today! A little treat for her ~ an early Christmas treat!

PEARL: "Ooooh! Look Sapphire, big bows made of satin." *Giggles.* "How exciting!" *Dives into bow ties.*
SAPPHIRE: "Ooooh! Daddy's house is so full of interesting things to play with!" *Giggles and joins Pearl.*
PADDY: "Pearl and Sapphire, please come out of Daddy's bow tie box. It's not a playground for little bears!"
PEARL: "Sapphire and I beg to disagree!" *Giggles, and continues to play with Sapphire amid the bow ties.*
SCOUT: "Paddy? Paddy!"
PADDY: "Yes Scout?"
SCOUT: "Paddy you look so beautiful dressed up like that! That bow tie suits your plush colourings perfectly!"
PADDY: "Why thank you, Scout. That is very kind of you to say so." *Preens.*
SCOUT: "But Paddy, why are you getting all dressed up? Christmas is over!"
PADDY: "I know it is, Scout, but you are still dressed up in one of your new tutus from Father Christmas and the Christmas Bear."
SCOUT: "I know, Paddy, but that is because I am always fashionable! Wheeee!" *Spins around making the bells on his tutu make a jingling sound.* "Unlike yo..."
PADDY: "Ah-ah, Scout!" *Gives Scout a hard stare.*
SCOUT: "Ahem!" *Clears throat.* "Unlike some bears, sometimes."
PEARL and SAPPHIRE: *Giggle.*
PADDY: "Now don't you start, Pearl and Sapphire! Scout hardly needs encouragement."
PEARL and SAPPHIRE: *Giggle more and focus on playing with bow ties.*
SCOUT: "So why are you getting dressed up, Paddy?"
PADDY: "Well Scout, mijn beste vriend Oleg received the most wonderful Christmas gift from Father Christmas and the Christmas Bear..."
SCOUT: "Oh wow! Did Oleg get a tutu, too? Wheeee!" *Spins around again making the bells on his tutu make a jingling sound.* "But Paddy, what does that have to do with you wearing a bow tie?"
PADDY: "Scout, Oleg did not get a tutu for Christmas."
SCOUT: "Oh he must have been so bitterly disappointed. I know I would have been if I hadn't received any tutus, or if mijn beste vriend Peter hadn't received his choo-choo train."
PADDY: "But Scout, Oleg didn't want a tutu for Christmas."
SCOUT: "He didn't?!?!" *Shocked.*
PADDY: "No, he didn't Scout. Anyway, the present he received was an invitation to afternoon tea for two bears at The Palm Court at the Ritz in London!"
SCOUT: "An invitation to afternoon tea? Wow! That is so exciting, Paddy!"
PADDY: "I know!" *Trembling with excitement.* "And as I said, it's for two bears!"
SCOUT: "Oh how lovely Oleg is to ask me to afternoon tea, Paddy! And look, I'm all dressed in my new favourite pink tutu and ready for tea at the Ritz! Wheeee!" *Spins around again making the bells on his tutu make a jingling sound.*
PADDY: "You Scout?" *Alarmed.*
SCOUT: "Why of course, Paddy. Who else would he ask?"
PADDY: "Ahem!" *Clears throat.* "Me of course! Oleg as mijn beste vriend has opted to invite me to take afternoon tea with him at the Ritz!"
SCOUT: "Oh! Oh of course Paddy!" *Blushes red underneath woollen plush.* "How exciting for you, Paddy!"
PADDY: "Thank you, Scout! And that is why I'm getting dressed up. Mijn beste vriend Oleg says that a limousine is coming to pick me up, so I have brushed my plush to a gleaming shine and borrowed one of Daddy's best bow ties to wear. It always pays to dress to impress."
SCOUT: "Oh I agree, Paddy! Will there be a lot of food at the afternoon tea at the Ritz do you suppose, Paddy?"
PADDY: "I expect so, Scout. Why do you ask?"
SCOUT: "Well, since there is going to be soooo much food, there will probably be too much for you and Oleg to eat, so maybe mijn beste vriend Peter and I could join you and we could eat lots of yummy afternoon tea too! After all, I am all dressed up and ready for the Ritz! Wheeee!" *Spins around again making the bells on his tutu make a jingling sound.*
"And I do have a grumbly tummy, Paddy! Grumbly tummy Paddy! Grumbly tummy!" *Rubs tummy vigorously.*
PADDY: "Well.. I.. err..." *Blushes.*
PEARL and SAPPHIRE: *Giggle even more.*
My bears Paddy and Scout have made very good friends with two bears in Holland called Peter and Oleg (www.flickr.com/photos/40262251@N03/galleries/721577154558...) and their Mummy (www.flickr.com/photos/66094586@N06/) . Peter and Scout are very similar and have become best friends. Paddy and Oleg are very similar too and have become best friends as well. Oleg received an invitation for two bears to afternoon tea at the Ritz in London as a Christmas gift because he is such a good bear. You can see him sitting proudly with his invitation here: www.flickr.com/photos/66094586@N06/53420027529/in/gallery... or in the first comment below.

Pearl and Sapphire are both little Russ Bears who arrived on Christmas Day 2023. They travelled from Mama Kim's house in Alabama all the way here. Both are sweet little bears who are tenacious and cheeky, but full of love and snuffly kisses most of all.

Jingle bells! Jingle bells!
This Blythe doll is Elegant Ellie. I love her beautiful hair! Her description calls the color “emerald green” but I think of it as teal.
I liked the little sunshine sparkles on this extreme closeup. If I had caught any fibers in better focus, this might have been my winner.
I'm a happy happy girl. My loved ones, my friends, books, poetry, chai, colors, rain and people they all make me very happy. But gifts? They make me EXTREMELY happy ;o) A rainbow melted in my eyes when I received this beautifully ornate, jewel toned Jaipuri Chappals from a dear friend. They are so comfortable and I'm loving it :)
All my friends wanted to see the rest of the Angharka /Choridar and Dupatta my Khala sent me by Maria B which I posted earlier. I hope it makes some sense now :)
P.S: I posted this shot for my friend Hashim who is making us all proud and trying to be quite the dandy lately :)
Explored :)
