The Western Wall, also known as the "Wailing Wall" or the "Kotel," is one of the most significant religious and historical sites in Jerusalem, Israel. It holds deep spiritual and emotional importance for Jews worldwide, and it has also become a symbol of the complex and often contentious nature of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The Western Wall is a remnant of the ancient retaining wall that once surrounded the Second Temple, which was destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE. After the temple's destruction, the Western Wall became the closest accessible site for Jewish prayer and pilgrimage. For centuries, Jews from around the world have come to this sacred site to pray, lament the destruction of the temple, and express their connection to Jewish heritage.
The name "Wailing Wall" originates from the 19th and early 20th centuries when Jews would gather at the site to mourn the destruction of the temple and express their sorrow through prayers and tears. The term "Kotel" means "wall" in Hebrew and has become a popular and endearing name for the site.
Over time, the Western Wall has evolved into a focal point of religious and nationalist tensions between Israelis and Palestinians. The site is located in the Old City of Jerusalem, which is also part of the contested area between Israel and Palestine. Its significance to both Jewish and Muslim communities has led to disputes and occasional clashes.

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus died that death for YOU and I. The good news is there no more punishment for sin left, we were and are all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" Has its many tributaries on the Great Dividing Range, 5.5km east of Ben Bullen and 2km west of Baal Bone Gap. It flows for about 14km generally south west, then west and north into the Turon River. The Sydney Gazette, 10th August 1844, p. 1, records that at Jews Creek there was a boiling establishment. One of the by products was to extract tallow from sheep fat to make candles. The Maitland Mercury, 3rd August 1844, p. 3, records,"The Boiling Establishment at Jews Creek is now in full operation, capable of boiling down 3,500 sheep or 300 head of cattle per week." Jews Creek was most likely named due to the Jewish owners nearby. Ref: Rolls, Eric. A Million - Wild Acres, 1981, p. 146. Lang, John Dunmore. An Historical and Statistical Account of New South Wales, 1875, p. 221 records, "Kuen Guen, or Jew's Creek."

Albert Street has many brings back family memories from my childhood days in the 1960s. Half way up this short street on the left hand side was "The Wheel Cafe". The cafe had a large ship's wheel hanging in the window.
My parents often used to take there for lunch. The proprietor Mr Ken May used to do a fantastic breaded plaice. Thanks to that plaice has always been my favourite fish over the years.
I also recall the orange drink dispenser of the type common in those days. A clear tank on top of a cooler which had a rotating stirrer. On top of the orange floated plastic oranges!
The Wheel Cafe has long gone - but the memories linger over 50 years on.

The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, or the Holocaust Memorial as it is commonly known, is a series of blocks of varying height on undulating ground near the Brandenburg Gate. It was designed by Peter Eisenmann and Buro Happold. It opened to the public in 2005.
The cold slabs, stained with rain while I was there, coffin like in their floor dimensions but rising higher in the middle are extremely thought provoking and a moving experience.
