Nothing beats Jet2 at the moment... The low-cost carrier has had a very busy 2025, recently adding 2 new operating bases to their network which includes Bournemouth located in Dorset, and London Luton in Bedfordshire. The airline which only celebrated 20 years of operation back in 2023 has gone on to become the 3rd largest airline in the UK behind EasyJet and British Airways respectively.
Even with 2025 drawing to a close, that hasn't stopped Jet2 from announcing their plans for next year and mid-November 2025 saw the low-cost carrier confirming they will be opening a 14th base in the UK, and its this base that even I didn't expect.
Yes, Jet2 has announced from the S26 schedule they will open their 14th base at London Gatwick which should be very interesting... The low-cost carrier announced they will be basing 6 aircraft of which 5 will be Airbus A321neos and will operate to 29 destinations of which 9 will be year-round and 20 will be seasonal.
Jet2 will operate into London Gatwick against very stiff competition; EasyJet is by far the largest carrier who have had a base here since 2002, but Jet has to go toe-to-toe with the likes of British Airways, TUI Airways, Vueling and Wizz Air who also have a significant presence here.
It is amazing the trajectory Jet2 is going in and do wish them every bit of success at London Gatwick.
