Yay Delta!
This was the little Delta MD-88 jet that we took from KTPA to KBDL.
For such an old design, this was very nice! Leather seats all throughout, which I LOVE. Check out how small that front tire is though. The tire on my dad's car is bigger than that.
This would previously have been called Delta Express. Delta Express was a premium service along the east coast for non stop flights to popular cities, at DIRT CHEAP prices.
Would you believe that we paid 138$ per person, for a Round trip Non stop flight from MA to FL? Ha, that's dirt cheap! And not your budget outfit either, it was very nice. Always on time, if not a little early. This is why I love Delta. Puts the little putt putt outfits like Southwest to shame.
I'm afraid my photostream is going to be all 'testosterone' for a while, lots of planes & steam trains. For those who can't disitinguish between them, this is a plane. In fact it's a Jet Provost and it put in a very good display at the recent Filton Airshow.

We could clearly see the Jet d'eau, The enormous fountain in Lake Geneva, from the top of Saint-Pierre's tower. The height of the jet is an incredible 140m, with 500 litres of water forced out of the nozzle every second at about 200kph. Each drop takes sixteen seconds to complete the round-trip from nozzle to lake and, on windy days, the plume can rapidly drench the surroundings. It’s worth risking a dousing by walking out onto the jetty to appreciate the force and noise of the thing close up.
the library where I am so blessed to work had a family science night. In this photo payton and I were watching a jet engine fire up....it was quite loud...hence the ear plugs...and payton's somber look. :-) he didn't quite dig the loud noise. later we got to see saturn in a telescope..
wow, was that beautiful.
:-)
