Detail of a seemingly dead trunk...but it's not! Bristlecone Pines are some of the oldest living things on Earth, some over 3,000 years old! A little "wear-and-tear" can be expected. Windy Ridge-110

We couldn't resist stopping in for lunch at the very appropriately named 'Twin Rocks Cafe' during our road trip exploring amazing Utah, USA in 2015. The food was good, though we were just hoping one of those gigantic rocks didn't come crashing down !
Location is at Bluff, a small community at the junction of Hwy.191 and 163, not too far from the stunning buttes and mesas of Monument Valley and many other classic desert landforms. One of my favourite areas in the world.
Contemporary cars (right to left) include:
Jeep Liberty, Chrysler Neon, Toyota Camry XV50, Dodge Avenger/Stratus, ??, white lwb Ford Econoline van, blue Ford F150 supercab pickup, ?
Any comments welcome.

At 06:30 I walk Playa la Ropa for an hour. The beach is about 1.5 Km long with ramp access at the south end. When I arrived at the beach in front of Hotel Catalina this morning both of the vehicle occupants were sacked out on the sand.
They drove their Jeep down the beach and when they arrived in front of the Catalina, there is a volcanic rock outcropping that prevents any further travel north. Looks like they drove into the soft sand trying to turn around and got stuck - oops! The 4-wheel drive just sucked the Jeep in deeper.
At 07:30 I went for the camera. On return the female was astir.
Shortly after the authorities arrived and roused the male. Lots of discussion - probably about cost to liberate the Liberty and how much of a fine would be levied. New wife did NOT look amused.
When I returned to the beach at 09:00 for a morning swim, it was all over - Jeep Liberty was liberated.
The story circulating was the newlyweds were from Morelia, Michoacan, about a 4.5 hour drive inland and were in Zihuatanejo for their honeymoon. Not off to a great start maybe.
Lime Nuggets walks away from our rented Jeep in frustration after getting it stuck axle-deep in some soft Florida sand. In the background, a Florida East Coast geep works the intermodal yard in Fort Pierce. We didn't realize it at the time, but we picked a 2 wheel drive Jeep Liberty. Really? A 2WD Jeep? What is the world coming to? After realizing the subdued (the nice way to put it) nature of this Jeep, we started to refer to it as a Jeep Librarian.

Fifty years separate my two photos of the main street of Chinatown, Victoria, B.C., Canada; Fisgard St. remains full of historical interest with some changes apparent since 1971:
- trees have arrived, to obscure some building features
- utility poles and mesh of wires have been removed
- oriental-style street lights and hanging lanterns arrived
- the oriental-style phone box has gone
- a new skyscraper looms over the scene
- the full-size 'Gate of Harmonious Interest' (on the far right) provides a grand entrance from Government Street.
Car-spotters will note the changes: (left to right):
1971 : 1964 Rambler Classic 660 sedan, 1967 Pontiac Parisienne Coupe, 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 (green), 1967 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova station wagon (brown) and others.
2021 : Jeep Liberty, BMW X3, GMC panel van, Mazda 5 minivan.
Please comment re. other vehicles.

The Jeep Cherokee (KJ) was known as the Jeep Liberty (KJ) in the USA. Designed by Bob Boniface as a compact SUV and introduced in North America in May 2001 for the 2002 model year, as a replacement for the outgoing Cherokee (XJ) the Liberty was priced between the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. It was the smallest of the 4-door Jeep SUVs up until the car platform based 4-door Compass and Patriot arrived for 2007.
Three trim levels were initially offered; the top end Limited, a more rugged looking Renegade and the base Sport. All were made available with either 2WD or 4WD.
Many thanks for a Marmalising

Hazzard Range county sheriff's office Lieutenant Dolly King took a report of shop lifting at 404 Main ST in Sparta .Scene investigated/cleared.
########NOTE NOT IN REPORT OR PAPER ##########
404 Main High Noon Jewelry and clothing ,is the business is own by Grady and Sue Butter . Sue is the owner of High Noon Jewelry and clothing, and Grady is a retired HRCSO ,Sergeant who was 2014 Democrat candidate for Sheriff.
So Grady ( in green ) still kinda mad about losing the election in 2014 ,He is spoke to county commission many time what he claims to he be spike in crime since 2011 . When then Sheriff Travis Martin took office and now Sheriff Troy Forbes took office in 2015. So this just adds fuel to his claims .
