(another from 2014 roadtrip) I have seen so many fabulously gorgeous photos from Steptoe Butte, and thanks to having to spend a day with the car at the dealership in Portland, we decided to change our travel plans and skip a trip to Seattle...SO...my wish came true and we got to visit the Palouse. We stayed in Colfax after an evening at the Butte where we met lots of great people enjoying the scenery. There was a heavy haze from fires burning to the north in Washington but Lightroom's "dehaze" helped bring out some of the gorgeous color. I am jealous of all you folks who live closer to this picturesque area

We often use that word
It's loaded with negative energy
Envious
Just the same lousy word
I think we often use them without even thinking of what they mean
They are just words to describe a state of mind, then and there
You think
I don't
If you tend to use these kind of words a lot, I really think you should sit down and think
Being happy with what we have is important for us
If we are not happy, well
then we should do something about it
Not always easy
No of course not, when should all things be easy. We need to struggle a bit sometimes, to appreciate what we have, what vi get and what to have.
If you think Mondays are awful, well then you perhaps should get a new job or get another education.

How do you really want your life to be
Do you want to live where you are living
You can start by dreaming
Dreams may come true
But you need to take some action too
It's your life, do the math
Even tho we live in a fabulous country, where the scenery is awesome, and we are a peaceful bunch of people, there are a history to be told - or not to be told, secrets to be held or not to be held, in all houses.
The exterior may be gorgeous, the interior may be lousy.
It's the same all over the world, that will never change.
But you can change, you can stop things you don't want to happen.
You do have a choice.

Find songs and music for my photos has become a big part of my daily life. It used to be a way to express how I was feeling right at that moment, but gradually I let go of my own feelings and allow my photos to tell their stories. This is one of them. Happy coming weekend, my friends!

We were fortunate to be able to visit wildlife refuge when a great number of Great Blue herons and Cormorants were feasting on carp. At this moment the heron had the meal, but the Cormorant had no trouble catching its own a little while later.
A lighter moment while visiting friends farm in New Zealand. My son Alex is learning to ride a bike for the first time.
Everybody likes attention, not just photographers. Especially if it brings positive feedback - or tasty food. This chipmunk is jealously watching a squirrel eating a nut shared by a kind old lady. The chipmunk was so close but... no nut!
Boo did not like me taking or working on a photo of Ripley, so to appease her, I took an indoor shot of her looking like she wasn't being extremely jealous. Blessed to have them both in my life - I'd be miserable without them!

I'm really jealous of some of your images with all the different color leaves on the ground and on the trees. Here, we have some trees the leaves change colors on but nothing like what some of you have
So, I added a lot of color here ..;)
This is Sheldon my son and daughter in law's other cat. He is a gorgeous cat - very fluffy and friendly. Thought I would upload a shot of him after posting one of Hekla yesterday - just in case he is jealous!
In these pages I've often mentioned the 'Japanese Linnaeus', Carl Peter Thunberg (1743-1828). In the service of the Dutch East Indies Trading Company VOC he was a surgeon (1775-76) to the denizens of the tiny artificial island of Dejima, the Dutch trading post in the harbor of Nagasaki. He used his time there, too, to further his naturalist studies. Though the island was jealously guarded by the Japanese, Thunberg was permitted now and then to botanise on the mainland.
It was in the vicinity of Nagasaki that he found this Glorytree, Clerodendrum trichotomum. He published his description in Sweden in 1780. Today this shrub has been planted in gardens all over the world. In the Gaasperplaspark it survives, I think, from the horticultural exhibition - the Floriade - held there in the early '80s. Its blue fruits - which will soon turn black - are wonderfully offset by their bright red calyx, and both contrast marvellously with Autumn yellows under a light blue sky.
