Moon raising on the Ice fieldparkway a few km out from Jasper.

This amazing waterfall in Canaima National Park in Venezuela is formed entirely of jasper. While most of the jasper is red, there are places win the riverbed where it is yellow/gold, and black.

I just hope this one is as good as I immagine, with the great contrast in colors it exhibits.

For my video; youtu.be/ocJVizNn-jU?si=5DfyWoNeK_1B-xGc,

Jasper is a specialized municipality and townsite in western Alberta within the Canadian Rockies. The townsite is in the Athabasca River valley and is the commercial centre of Jasper National Park.

The Icefields Parkway in Alberta has some of those most incredible views to be found anywhere.

A nice little scene along the road side in Jasper NP, Canada

An AC4400 with heterochromia (referring to the number boards.) After a few hours of waiting for 1111 at Dougren, the GMIVET finally heads toward Eugene for a meet with AMTK 11 and a crew change. Passing through some nice fall color at this curve in Jasper, I originally wanted to get the signal relay box out of the frame, but just decided to embrace it because this was the most convenient vantage point. Infrastructure is cool, anyways.

“A 16 year old girl is fighting for her life in Australia, but is being denied a life saving double lung transplant because she hasn’t had 4 COVID Vaccines.”

We took another nice hike together today. I like this one because it seems to highlight the differences in personality between Dash and Jasper.

Jasper Falls, so named because the riverbed is carved out of pure jasper; red, gold, and black. Located in the great high plains of Venezuela, it is the most beautiful falls I have ever seen.

This is Jasper he as not got very long left to live.

He is very old and in pain.

Were do dogs go when they die.

To dogs heaven of course.?

place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

When the right light and right location come together the results are nothing short of spectacular. While shooting at Beauty Creek we ran into cloud formations that produced some of the most brilliant light display of our trip to Canadian Rockies.

Snapped this shot while hanging out the side of a old Crown Victoria going 100 Km/h down a highway. not a bad shot for the conditions.

Driving past on my way north, this lake was dotted with people wading way out, some halfway to the other side. It was a strange sight in a mountain lake and one I'd never seen here before. On my return trip there were just these two people.

Apparently, Jasper Lake is really just a widening of the Athabasca River as it flows across the flats here. The glacier fed river carries much silt, much of which settles as it moves over the flats and forms a sandy bottom. In the fall when the water is low, some of the sand dries out and is picked up by the wind to form a couple of sand dunes along the far shore.

I miss Canada, this is a picture from last summer.

Early morning view of the upper station of the Jasper Sky Tram., situated on Whistlers Mountain. The station sits at an elevation of 2,273 metres (approximately 7500 ft high). This is the view of the tram station from the Jasper Park Lodge.

Bumblebee Jasper. My amazing daughter bought me this beautiful Bumblebee Jasper stone and I was inspired to attempt this abstract palette knife painting. Part landscape, part nonrepresentational, all fun. 5x7 Oil on panel.

When you are driving on the Icefields Parkway, you will witness rugged mountain peaks, stunning lakes, and green forests as far as the eye can see.

The Icefields Parkway is beautiful in all seasons, particularly in the summer months. During winter, a drive through the Icefields will feel like driving through a winter wonderland. If you drive long enough, you will pass through the infamous Athabasca Glacier and eventually into the town of Jasper.

Train trip #20

Jasper, Alberta

For those following my train trip, this photo is a bit out of sequence. I jumped ahead a bit for Fence Friday.

Happy Fence Friday!

We've begun to harvest our backyard citrus in earnest now so Jasper has to check the orchard every day and give us ideas about what might be the next best pick.

Darren & I spent New Year's Eve day at our favorite cat shelter. All of our cats have come from here over the last decade. They have wonderful rooms where you can interact with the residents and so many of them are very friendly and personable.

Jasper here seems to be a very mellow big boy. At least he posed nicely enough.

Please visit the Forgotten Felines and Fidos website, especially if you are in the Lehigh Valley area and wish to adopt a kitty. Forgotten Felines and Fidos is a non-profit and a no-kill shelter that promotes fostering and adoption of cats & dogs in need of a furever home. They have an in-house Spay/Neuter Clinic and other services.
