Merlin and Morgan say that celebrating is fun in moderation but over doing it can lead to some not so glamourous moments. 😂

On New Year's Eve, illegal amateur fireworks cracked all over Brussels, in addition to the official one on ''Place des Palais'' (the biggest, top-right green one).

This is a composition of photos shot around midnight from the top of the Brusilia Residence in Schaerbeek (Brussels).

I wish you a happy and healthy year 2023.

May it shine with a thousand lights!

This year again, Brussels' official fireworks were cancelled because of COVID, but illegal amateur fireworks cracked all over town…

For the first time since COVID19, the Brussels New Year's fireworks were launched in 2025 from the Atomium.

As always, amateur fireworks were illegal, but that didn't stop them from exploding all over the city!

The Atomium was designed by engineer André Waterkeyn for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair. It is composed of nine steel spheres linked together to form a unit cell of an iron crystal enlarged 165 billion times.

Brussels' New Year parties ended up under gorgeous skies, but rain started falling in the afternoon and kept on pouring for a few days…

Happy new year dear flickr's friends !

© All rights reserved. Thank you.

The new year starts in Brussels with gigantic fireworks behind the Atomium.

As previous years, I wanted to shoot it from the 34th floor of the Brusilia Residence, 4.3 km away (nearly 3 miles).

But unfortunately, it was so foggy it couldn't be seen, so here's another photo of the Atomium fireworks I shot on January 1st 2018 at 00:02.

Happy 2020 regardless!

The Atomium was designed by André Waterkeyn and built for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair.

It stands 102 meters (335 ft) tall.

It has nine steel spheres connected so that the whole forms the shape of a unit cell of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times.

The remains of New Year's Eve's snowstorm move east with a promise to clear skies from the west

New Years Day we woke up to another foggy overcast day in Chicago.Taken from Navy Pier.

I was at Shore Acres State Park, Oregon. I took this photo after most photographers left. It was getting dark and hard to use faster shutter speed, but I liked the darkness and mood in the photo. It was rainy sometimes. And I got so many splashes of waves... But it was fun! ;-)

And now the end is near

And so I face the final curtain

My friend, I'll say it clear

I'll state my case, of which I'm certain

I've lived, a life that's full

I travelled each and every highway

And more, much more than this

I did it my way

Regrets, I've had a few

But then again, too few to mention

I did what I had to do

I saw it through, without exemption

I planned each chartered course

Each careful step along the by-way

And more, much more than this

I did it, my way

Yes, there were times

I'm sure you knew

When I bit off, more than I could chew

But through it all, when there was doubt

I ate it up and spit it out

I faced it all, and I stood tall

And did it my way

I've loved, I've laughed and cried

I've had my fill, my share of losing

And now, as tears subside

I find it all so amusing

To think I did all that

And may I say, not in a shy way

Oh no, oh no not me

I did it my way

For what is a man, what has he got?

If not himself, then he has naught

To say the things he truly feels

And not the words of one who kneels

The record shows, I took the blows

And did it my way

Yes, it was my way

For a couple of minutes we had this gorgeous sky on the first day of 2025 - it was a promising start of the new year!

Hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful first day of 2024! May all your dreams & wishes for this new year come true =)

Not quite the sunrise I was hoping for this morning, the conditions where getting worse by the minute, shooting when it's windy and raining doesn't give you much time to set up your shot before the lens is covered in rain drops, however sometimes you just have to make the best of the conditions that are presented.

I missed posting flowers images this past week. While I like other types of photography, flowers and plants in general are my favorites to capture. First camellia blooms opened in my garden just a few days ago. One already fallen as it commonly happens with such heavy blooms. So, I thought I do something creative with it. It was a little bit of a challenge to get the bloom in focus with one hand while using manual focus lens.

Here is to a great 2024! 🎉🎉🎉 Best wishes in your photography journey!

Let 2017 Bring All Of Us Only Happiness

First post of 2020!!

Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous new year.

Michael and I took our traditional New Year's Day stroll through the Joseph A Witt Winter Garden, in Seattle's Washington Park Arboretum. It was a beautiful day, and there were delightful surprises at every turn.

Taken on New Year's Day just around noon...

What better than to start off the new year with a walk in the woods. And to do something new, I made a selfie.

Even if the weather isn't sunny, there are always an opportunity to find a composition.

The first dawn of the 2020's painted Gräsgård harbour in beautiful shades of pink. This is the second year running that I've woken up, after only a couple of hours of sleep, to go out and experience the new year sunrise. I plan on making it a tradition!

A new decade's first rays over the Baltic Sea. When I picked this location to photograph I had no idea what beautiful colours were waiting for me. An experience 100% worth only getting 3 hours of sleep for.

This gives you an idea of how the view was.

... e che sia un anno buono per tutti, si.

senza il loro casino

New year, new perspective.

I wanted to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! This is a very important New Year.. because we all have to really hope and pray that 2021 is at least a little better than 2020 has been!

My birthday or New Year's wish this year.. is for a better year. Less suffering for the world, but also for my own country.

The United States of America has really taken a beating this past year.. (2020). With Covid-19 and all of the other craziness that's happened.

I have heard about and seen first hand, so many people lose their businesses... many people are on their way to losing their homes (if they haven't already).. I truly cannot imagine the extent of HOW behind some people are on their bills... And this whole time people are forced out of work and made to stay home... The government has told them to trust in them, that they will help them with money..

So yesterday when I was at work I heard people start saying that $600 has been deposited into their accounts.

After all of that.. almost a full year in lock down.. and they got $600. That might buy groceries until they get back to work.. but I know none of these people are paying a bill with that.. (that'd be crazy).

And I'm so grateful * I really truly am* that I have remained working this entire time.. (Although it was very scary because of the risk of catching Covid-19.. & I had 2 scares already). But I'm grateful that for me personally, not much changed with lock down.

But for most people, this is not the case. And I get down on my knees and PRAY so hard for these people. My heart aches for them. And I hope they all know that it'll be okay. (I don't know how.. but I just know it'll be okay.)

This whole situation is nobody's fault. And I don't want to hear it, or discuss politics on my Flickr.. AT ALL. Because I am very firm in my personal beliefs.. and I've already lost a few close friends and family members over conflicting beliefs (not my decision). But, I know that some of you have different beliefs than me.. I see it in your photos. But that doesn't mean you're wrong.. or that we should even discuss it.. As we are all here FOR PHOTOGRAPHY & Photographer Friendships!.

But, for my birthday (which is JANUARY1st - I'll be 34 years old...

I WISH FOR A BETTER YEAR. I wish for a better 2021 for the sake of all of you out there suffering in any way. I pray for you all.. and I'm not sure what's going to happen tomorrow, but I do know.. that it will all work out.. some how.

Sometimes, a few doors have to close before you can open up a really great door. So remember that!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!

& Happy 34th birthday to myself!

Hoping and praying for you all.. and everyone out there...!! I love you all. And I truly appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you all for your kind words and your great friendships.. and always making me smile! You're amazing.

Never think bad about yourself, because you're amazing! If you do nothing else one day... when you leave me a nice thoughtful comment.. you make my face and my heart smile! & That's so much appreciated!

Dawn one. Here is the first photo I took on New years day. For some reason I decided that these rocks weren't the foreground interest I was looking. I don't know why, they look great.

Reflection of candle through a rainy window on this damp New Year's Day

Taken back on Jan. 1st while meeting up with several other photographers from Colorado to capture the beginning of a New Year. The mountain is Pikes Peak, 14,110 ft. elevation. The view is looking through Garden of the Gods, of which I've posted earlier shots. This is something of the "classic" view of Pikes Peak and I'm afraid rather cliche for Colorado photographers.....so, I've tried to personalize it to my own tastes so it not appear too uninteresting.
