Jacksonville Beach, FL

I arrived in Jacksonville Florida and had a great day yesterday shooting with my flickr friend Jay Wilke and met a new flickr friend, Sharon Pire. We spent the day in beautiful St. Augustine. Shots from yesterday will be coming later. I hung around to get a few things done today and ended up at the riverwalk area this evening. It's over a mile of museums, shops and restaurants on the St. Johns river and really pretty. They've had the coldest weather in years since I arrived:-)). I'm sure it will warm up as soon as I move on tomorrow!!!

Every so often I dabble in textures ... but only when I think that the subject warrants the treatment. At times I tire of the many textured photos so I try to use the technique sparingly myself and with a degree of sensitivity, always attempting to keep the material varied. Hopefully I've achieved that here .... but I'm still learning. Thanks to all for your kind comments, faves, advice and even just stopping by to have a look.

I confess that on this photo I simply drew a blank attempting to come up with a witty title so I just named it as it is.

UP LWG55 (North Little Rock-Newport, AR; Turn) rolls under the MP 332.5 signals in Jacksonville, Arkansas. As you will see in this following series, there is no shortage of MoPac signal bridges on the Hoxie Sub between NLR and Bald Knob.

Hear us, Shepherd of Israel,

you who lead Joseph like a flock.

You who sit enthroned between the cherubim,

shine forth before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh.

Awaken your might;

come and save us.

Restore us, O God;

make your face shine on us,

that we may be saved.

How long, Lord God Almighty,

will your anger smolder

against the prayers of your people?

You have fed them with the bread of tears;

you have made them drink tears by the bowlful.

You have made us an object of derision to our neighbors,

and our enemies mock us.

Restore us, God Almighty;

make your face shine on us,

that we may be saved.

You transplanted a vine from Egypt;

you drove out the nations and planted it.

You cleared the ground for it,

and it took root and filled the land.

The mountains were covered with its shade,

the mighty cedars with its branches.

Its branches reached as far as the Sea,

its shoots as far as the River.

Why have you broken down its walls

so that all who pass by pick its grapes?

Boars from the forest ravage it,

and insects from the fields feed on it.

Return to us, God Almighty!

Look down from heaven and see!

Watch over this vine,

the root your right hand has planted,

the son you have raised up for yourself.

Your vine is cut down, it is burned with fire;

at your rebuke your people perish.

Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand,

the son of man you have raised up for yourself.

Then we will not turn away from you;

revive us, and we will call on your name.

Restore us, Lord God Almighty;

make your face shine on us,

that we may be saved.

[Psalm 80:1-19 NIV]

5 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:

1. Like it or not, we are ALL sinners: As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.” (Romans 3:10-12 NLT)

2. The punishment for sin is death: When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. (Romans 5:12 NLT)

3. Jesus is our only hope: But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8 NLT) For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 NLT)

4. SALVATION is by GRACE through FAITH in JESUS: God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT)

5. Accept Jesus and receive eternal life: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9 NLT) But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12 NLT) And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12 NLT)

The Greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me

As usual in Florida, the storms of the afternoon cleared the way for a wonderful evening. Only on the ocean can gray be such a vivid color. The docks at the Ortega River Marina in Jacksonville were a senses sensation; especially with all of the delicious cooking going on. What a night!

I haven't posted much lately. I've been doing a lot of photography but more on the commercial side. I've always wanted to get a shot of the Jacksonville skyline to add to my collection of cityscapes. Last weekend I was able to get it.

This is a five frame pano that I shot with my 50mm lens.
