The barreltree on display at the Jack Danilel's Distillery.

Actually, it was just a ash try outside the visitor center, but it looked cool - and people would never known unless someone opened their big mouth. . .

While there's no alcohol on the tour, there are fumes. Lots and lots of fumes!

Have you ever been at a college bar -- the kind where the nicest beer on tap is Coors Light and even though the bar's in Texas somehow everyone's got a New Jersey driver's license -- and gotten a whiff of it at the end of the night? That inescapable smell of spilled, curdling alcohol just overwhelming your nostrils?

That's the Jack Daniel's tour . . . but a thousand times stronger.

There have only been six Master Distillers in the history of the Jack Daniel's Distillery. Their pictures hang in what used to be Jack Daniel's office.

Behind Jack is the cave where the water for Jack Daniel’s whiskey is drawn.

So what Jack Daniel's does - they burn this speicaly grown maple to JUST the right consistancy and then use it to filter the whiskey. And they dont use lighter fluid or gasoline to start it - that might come through as a chemical taste.

No, they use more whiskey as an acclereant. The really, really, REALLY potent stuff. The stuff that would give Everclear a run for it's money.

The Jack Daniels creed posted right at the front door.
