There I was, in the dune sea of Tatooine. And finally there it is, the Jabba’s Palace. I’ve been trying to locate Jabba's Palace so many years without results. You know, they don’t sell here maps that could easily take you to a location you want, you’d better know the route or you could be doomed! Lucky me.
One more addition to my landscapes series (and I can guarantee, it won’t be the last one, as I’d love to make these sceneries in large). This very Jabba’s Palace is a micro-scale build-up by me, sitting on the cliff I’ve made up of a sand and blaster. I’m so happy to put this finally up on here, on a last day of the year. This has become easily one of photos I can call as "My Favorite Photos of the Year". Happy New Year!
Little did he knew, but they're not dancing at all. There was some sort of cheerful moment, when everyone was smiling and laughing to Jabba the Hutt's silly little joke about Han being in carbonite with the handcuffs on... boy, how they laughed the joke they've heard from the Reddit. Well, this big Gamorrean doesn't get the joke and simply leave the place with a silent "Grmph!" sound coming directly from his throat.
Salacious B. Crumb is a lazy and witty Kowakian. All he do is try to entertain Jabba the Hutt the best he can. That's his job! Here he is sitting on the droid we all remember - It's BB-8 - and Salacious is just using it as a chair! But does someone else has something to say about this? I think there's a rescue mission on its way right now.
A frame made a few months ago. It's been sitting and waiting to be posted here.
I'm still at Jabba's Palace. My camera has taken pictures of different situations in the past three days. I have witnessed many unusual oddities here. It seems that Han Solo is carbonized again. How many times this has been, I do not know. Boushh is negotiating with Bib, but but for some reason Bib's face alone will tell you that the negotiations is not doing very well. And Jabba is totally out of this world, either concentrating for a drinks and food or just about to take a nap. However, Chewbacca carries a secret weapon, the frying pan! Perhaps he intends to offer to cook a fried frogs for Jabba, so that he would release Han finally!
I hope I can one day dare to show the rejected scenes from this photo session. In fact, there are quite a few of them and some are just trash stuff, but I try to keep them in a safe place and upload them here when I cannot think anything else to upload. This, however, pleased me most of all and shall be here now.
Here I am. Knocking on the gate of Jabba's Palace. If you look closely, you will probably see me my pants and a small glimpse of the hood right in there. I wonder how I have got this far. Anyway, I got in, the previous photo proves it. Next time, I probably need something other than a parka coat for my outfit. The one I used on Hoth is getting hot here on Tatooine.
This is a photo of the tower from the Jabba's Palace in Lego. To some extent, this reminds me of Lord of the Rings, even though it is not.
Boushh returned. In fact, she was never away, she were just hiding in a wooden box, waiting to be put in front of the lens, again. A moment she saw my studio and a timetable, she whispered me to never put inside that black box, again. She loved my widescreen camera and I'd just loved to work with her. Every time I've said "action!", she did her parts just the way I've wanted.
I've always loved Boushh. She came along with Lego Jabba's Palace many years ago. Lego did absolutely fantastic job by delivering this character to their Lego Star Wars line-up. What I've missed over the years, is a good photography session with her, but that matter is taking care of (for awhile). This frame popped up from the session I had with her the other day. It's out of focus, it's out of everything, there's even a visible dustbites just waiting to be erased, I know, but for me, this is what I desire currently. I don't know, I like the motion in here, it's like one of those frame between the sharpen ones with a slow shutter speed. Also, I forced subtitles to be seen in this European version. ;D I have a couple of other frames to show you later from this same session, but that's gonna be another story!
"Yeah, you!" says Oola and waves a drink in her hand. It's almost an empty cup, but she is still offering it to a stranger in a hallway of Jabba's Palace.
All she hear is Salacious vicious laugh.
Originally this is a B version of this scene.
I was in the shadows of Jabba's Palace. There was several Tuskens, with a device I haven't seen before. What and where did they find that, here I'm only asking. I guess that's the life of Tuskens anyway, to find and seek goods from the scraps. Anyway, I've had a feel, Boushh might be here, but couldn't find it. Cat burglar did his moves, again! I think sometimes the shadows are your best friend.
Lately, I've been playing with the different minifigs, mixing them together with a unknown objects. Sometimes it works, sometimes it's not. I was looking one of my first scenes with Boushh from 2013 and after I've read the description of shadows, I've got an idea to try some new things. This particular scene is all in-camera, except the small enhancement of the colors.
I was lurking in the shadows of Jabba's Palace. I was there for some photos of Han in carbonite, but all of a sudden heard steps. It was Bousshh moving like a cat burglar and I instantly grabbed my camera and got this shot of him coming towards me. He was gone in seconds...
"Yeah, you!" says Oola and waves a drink in her hand. It's almost an empty cup, but she is still offering it to a stranger in a hallway of Jabba's Palace.
"May the 4th be with you" she silently whispers.
Gamorrean just stood there, like a statue. I felt the moisture coming from the walls, as they're breathing cold air in to my neck. It was a mix of cold and warm air which felt very wet. As I climbed on a tower of Jabba's Palace, shadows were on my side and I was able to take this photograph of Gammorrean the Guard on his duty.
After the photo was taken, he just keep standing there, like nothing happened. And I got this wild idea, he was enjoying being a photographed. It's just my wild thinking, but that's the way I've felt it. I guess he saw me earlier, while he was passing me.
I'm on Instagram. You can find me @jooka5000. Come say hello!
Well, I messed up in this one and was in the dog house for a week or so due to the flame falling onto our most recent carpet which left a burn mark of about 2 inches, oopsy!!!
Foreboding flowers deep inside his ample paunch whilst a primal fear shoots febrile tendrils which caress the bars of his worn out cage of a mind.
Five years now has he cared for the reptomammal.
Since being traded by the Circus Horrificus to Jabba Desilijic Tiure, (after the regrettable incident with the Arqet; the memory of the carnage ever so slowly fading, as the nightmares and night sweats gradually lessen.) His surprisingly genuine fondness for the beast has grown, blossomed, into his probably closest ever companion.
Yet, he couldn't quite place why and where the feeling came, that soon they were to be parted.
Still playing around with this set-up. I'm happier with this shot, still not quite the shot I want though. The lighting is more dramatic and a better focal point.
But my camera battery ran out (must buy a spare one) so hopefully if I've got time I might try for another later.
This is an updated vector badge I made back in 2017. I was never really happy with the previous color palette I had used and decided to change a few other details.
I credit Tim Hobday over on Dribbble for the inspiration on this as he has a small series of badges like this one posted there. Here's a link to his portfolio on Dribbble: dribbble.com/hobbers
