Good rain this season. Flood gates of the dam were opened for the first time after 4 years. The sound is deafening !
The height of the dam is 69 m and length 5.4 km. A lake of about 75 km in length and 4.5 km width, spreading over 267.97sq. km. In Jabalpur, Mandla and Seoni districts is formed when the water is impounded up to the dam FRL (Full Reservoir Level) of 422.76 m.
The dam irrigates about 3000 sq.km. of land and produces hydropower to the tune of 90 MW from its two turbines.

Seen here is Shining Itarsi WDM-3A#16079 crossing Tawa Bridge with on-time running 22187 Habibganj-Jabalpur Superfast Intercity Express at a sedate pace of 45kmph towards Pipariya.
This old abandoned bridge is still standing from the times when the British ruled India. This is the places from where Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed in the Narmada river. NH-7 used to go over this bridge before the new one was made. The locals still use it as a foot bridge.

This locomotive is an Ex. WAP 6 that can fit for operations at 130-140 KMPH ! This was a delight to watch this train with a handsome loco ! Mid-level headlamps added the extra beauty. One can watch the loco pilot exchanging his flag with stationary railway stuff !
Short note about this train : The Shaktipunj Express (Also pronounced as Sakthipunj Express) is a daily express train which runs between Jabalpur Junction railway station of Jabalpur, a major city in Madhya Pradesh, and Howrah Junction railway station of Kolkata, the capital city of West Bengal state in India. The name Shaktipunj is due to, the train passes through the heavy coal mines area as Singrauli, Patratu, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Asansol etc. Coal is the source of power or shakti. :)

Beautiful Marble Rocks reflection in the Narmada River. This exotic place is called Bhedaghat which is very close to Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India
The different shades of color in the water is due to the fact that the muddy waters from the surrounding area has started mixing with the clear water of the catchment area. Soon the color of the water will turn chocolate brown.
