The hack code on the left pulls down my public json file from flickr and I'm rebuilding the data so it should look like the data on the left. Grab the existing data parsed from json to python structures then rebuild into the json structure on the right.

 

The reason why?

 

Well for some reason the flickr api call to recently updated is slightly different in the structure and content compared to the public recently updated json feed.

# Server set-up

 

The server used to train the model was the v100 provided by Clear Bot.

 

Yolov5 requires python3.8. Given that we do not have super user right on the machine compilation and installation of python3.8 and its dependencies was done from source.

 

## Dependencies

 

Dependencies installed:

 

- ibncurses5-dev

- libgdbm-dev

- libssl-dev (installed on ~)

- libreadline-dev

- libffi-dev

- Python3.8

 

All these dependencies were installed in /home/makerbat/.local expect for openssl1.1.1 which was installed on /home/makerbay.

 

Python3.8 was installed from source and the installer script was modify to point to the local version of openssl.

 

## Dataset preparation

 

In order to prepare the data set for training I have created a small tool:

 

[quentingls/v7yolo](github.com/quentingls/v7yolo)

 

The tool can be pip installed from git:

 

```bash

pip install git+[github.com/quentingls/v7yolo](github.com/quentingls/v7yolo)

```

 

This tool allow users to:

 

- Download images from v7 generated .json

- Convert v7 json annotation to yolo annotation including polygon transform to bounding box

- Split the data into a train and validation set

- Create the yolo training yaml configuration file

 

## Training

 

Training data is organised under the /home/makerbay/training.

 

The first training was done with the data saved under the 20210221 folder with the following configurations:

 

- batch = 16

- epochs = 300

- weights = yolov5l (large mode see: [github.com/ultralytics/yolov5/wiki/Train-Custom-Data#4-se...](github.com/ultralytics/yolov5/wiki/Train-Custom-Data#4-se...))

- test/valid = 0.7/0.3
