― Galeano.

The John Oliver Cabin was constructed in the early 1820’s by John Oliver and his wife Lucretia. The Oliver's were the first permanent white settlers of Cades Cove, which is now part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

John Blue Canyon, named for a hermit that lived near the perennial spring at the mouth of the Canyon, lies on the southwestern end of Little Mountain. The mountain is a northwestward flexure that branches off the Bighorn Mountain range north of Cottonwood Canyon west of Lovell Wyoming. Structurally, it developed on a buried back thrust during the formation of the Bighorn Mountains.

The classic western landscape see from John Ford’s Point on the edge of a plateau overlooking the Monument Valley Tribal Land. Film director John Ford used Monument Valley as a location for many Westerns between 1939 (Stagecoach) and 1960, and this site was featured often is now known as John Ford's Point. The main summits in view from here are Sentinel Mesa, West Mitten Butte, Big Indian, Merrick Butte and the Castle Rock-Stagecoach group.

Church in honor of the Conception of John the Baptist.

The name of the church continues the tradition from the end of the 18th century, according to which the church of the suburban village of Bilichi was named in honor of the Prophet John, the Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord. The previous village temple was destroyed by the authorities in the 1960s.

In 2006, the construction of a large brick temple of the Conception of John the Baptist in the Byzantine style began.

John 10:10

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!

John Knox House, popularly known as "John Knox's House", is a historic house in Edinburgh, Scotland, reputed to have been owned and lived in by Protestant reformer John Knox during the 16th century. Although his name became associated with the house, he appears to have lived in Warriston Close where a plaque indicates the approximate site of his actual residence.

I always visit this statue, at St. Pancreas Station. when visiting London.

John Prine died of covid-19.

He was 73..

We've lost a lot of artists over the years, great ones, but for some reason John's death saddens me the most. It feels almost personal.

His music, his words and stories touched me more than any others.

A friend once told me simple things are the most profound, and that was his music. He could sing the human experience in his straightforward way and then throw in a line like "the silence of everything that moves" and I'd be dumbstruck.

For now, I'm sad

So this is for John and for all the others who've flown away and those who will follow. Off on a flight in a new direction, and as he once wrote "all new directions must go everywhere".

So go now John, to where everywhere is. You took me to so many places.

I haven't yet got my Flickr mojo up and running, feelings up and down and in between, but I'll be coming round to visit in bits and pieces.

I truly hope you're all well.

John the Baptist (c. 1st century BC – c. AD 30) was a Judaean preacher active in the area of the Jordan River in the early 1st century AD. He is also known as John the Forerunner in Eastern Orthodoxy, John the Immerser in some Baptist Christian traditions, and Prophet Yahya in Islam. He is sometimes alternatively referred to as John the Baptiser.

Lovely to see this, even if it is a replica, it instantly reminds you of John Lennon and the Beatles. Captured on the streets of Liverpool.

I stopped in Pawhuska, OK on my way back from a recent trip and spotted this old Ford. It had a ton of character, and I bet its owner does, too!
