JBR: Jumeirah Beach Residence, a huge residential complex that stretches on almost 2kms. This shot was taken this evening 15 minutes after sunset, from a new marina under construction, hence the absence of boats. And no it's not because of the financial crisis that all the yachts have left Dubai! ;-)

The Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) is a 1.7 kilometre (1.06 mile) long, 2 million square metre (22 million square foot) gross floor area waterfront community located against the Persian Gulf in Dubai Marina. It is the largest single phase residential development in the world and contains 40 towers (36 are residential and 4 are hotels). JBR's capacity is about 10.000 people living in its apartments and hotel rooms.

JBR is just across the bridge (this one) were I live.

Digital Blending, 8 exposures. Using several apertures for the light trails (f/22), flags (f/2.8), buildings (f/8). Did several exposures for the light trails and combined them (since the traffic was quite low).

JBR: Jumeirah Beach Residence.

Tonight I was in the mood for some long exposure shooting, so I walked to the beach near my apartment and took this shot. My feet and tripod were in the water, but luckily the tripod did not sink at all! You can actually see the shadows of me and the tripod.

The lights on the horizon are the ones from the Palm Island.

5 exposures Digital Blending, between 9 to 120 seconds at f/5.6.

Wish you all a great week end. For me it's already over, the week starts on Sunday here!

All of these are non-photoshopped (one of the requirements for the contest). i have went to the fair, almost every year, to see that the winners of the photography contest are not all that great, so if the pics this year are like the ones last year. i am sure to win

Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), Dubai, United Arab Emirates. 26-3-2025.

Lovely concrete blocks glowing in post-sunset light... Between the beach and the buildings there is a walkway with restaurants, cafes, and sales people trying to market housing projects to random tourists.

On another note, a few minutes after this was taken, I was told by a polite security person that photography with professional equipment was not allowed on the bridge I was standing. When I asked his definition of pro equipment, the answer was anything other than a cell phone.
