A picture taken of an olive tree planted at the University of Israa, which has an attractive appearance and it dictates an aesthetic area on the site.
Israa, 12, misses her school, and her Arabic classes in Al-Khalidiya, Syria. “It was a huge school. I liked the teachers. Arabic is my favorite subject,” Israa said. Israa lives in a rented home with her mother, four brothers and sisters and her father, Abu Mohammad, who was shot by a sniper in Syria and lost sight in his left eye. Currently, Israa and her siblings aren’t attending school. Mafraq, Jordan, September 18, 2012.

A blogger from the very first days of the Arab Spring in Egypt, Israa Addel Fattah was arrested in 2008, during Hosni Mubarak's presidency. This Internet activist was behind the hastag #wearebeingwatched, launched in response to the government's decision to put social media under surveillance. The banned, hunted, penalized and almost funereal dimentsion of this cyber-revolution is here given pride of place.

Before going into the museum I was very lucky to meet Aya and Israa from Egypt. who were visiting Scotland as part of educational exchange (I think). They were with a bus load of students who had come through to Glasgow from Dundee. Both very intelligent young women, who I am sure will go on to have bright futures.
