A large ruined gothic castle in Southern Bohemia, standing in a naturally isolated location surrounded by water. The rock formation, on which it stands, is part of a very ancient settled area important for European trade as far as 3500 B.C. A large fort at the location is known by 1500 B.C., many imported objects of that time were found by archeological research (jade from Baltic sea), weapons and metalic products were produced at the settlement. Later a large Celtic oppidum of the Boii stood right beside the future castle (latest genetic research proved Czech people to be descendants of Celts, having the highest percentage of Celtic genes together with the Irish, the Welsh and the Bretons).
The castle was built somewher around the 14th Century by the powerful Rosenberg family, it´s first mentioned in 1349 when the king permitted the construction. It stood in 1383 under the German name Maidberg. The castle was besieged by Hussites in 1420, and withstood the attack. Later it was a important fortress with a strong army, until the early 16th Century. Last repairs were made in 1506, and the castle is known as abandoned in 1541. It was a complicated arrangement of buildings with two palaces at the top, later three artillery bastions were added. Thankfully much of the castle remained, today the ruin is being conserved and is a popular tourist target.
For this isolated photo I needed to composite two photos together in order to properly balance and expose the logo along with keeping the highlight on camera right. All was needed was to cut the bottle out with the pen tool and make a selection, then inverse and set the white background and some minor spot healing. Last I flattened the finished image and overlayed a copied layer of the photo to give a slight boost in color and contrast.

A bit of an experiment here....it is supposed to be as dark as it is - was going for the spooky feel... :)
Alternating between Toronto and Bermuda, here is another shot from my outing at Leslie Spit a few weeks back. What you see in the foreground is the extension of a sand bar which has been somewhat isolated in the lake. The lighting was fantastic and the weather conditions near perfect. All I needed was a few fluffy clouds... but they were no where to be seen. Then again, I would rather these clear skies than jet trails any day... and I was surprised that there weren't more of them considering flights were landing at city airport every 15 mins while I was out there.
