Valle Edén is a quite isolated and peaceful place some 17 miles West of Tacuarembó, in Uruguay. It is comprised of an old abandoned train station (including a couple of old abandond trains), a water stream (called "Arroyo JabonerÃa") and a fragile suspension bridge that crosses it (meant only for people, not vehicles), and a little cottage.
It is also supposed to be the place where famous singer Carlos Gardel was raised and where he first sang, so there is a museum devoted to him (images of Carlos Gardel are everywhere in Tacuarembó).

A boat left in the middle of yellow water lily as it won't be used in the winter time. If you could see the mountain behinds, that is Albania.

No store-bought coconut cream pie this time, by the way...I made this one just for the occasion! And this may be the way to go for good, moving forward. This pie made for a FANTASTIC hit.
A lone western sandpiper in a large flock of sanderlings along Limantour Beach in Point Reyes National Seashore. The fact that he was different didn't seem to matter too much, but the brown plumage stood out to me as I scanned the flock for an interesting subject to isolate.

After another recent storm hit the UK, and battered Southsea, i took a look around whilst taking advantage of the much needed sunshine.
This is the Bandstand which during the summer hosts some great free music events.

Being isolated on the far western tip of Java Island has not prevented Ujung Kulon National Park from the threat of encroachment. For years, villagers living in surrounding areas have crossed over into the 122,452-hectare national park, illegally clearing land and damaging the habitat of the last known population of the Javan Rhino. Forest clearings shown in this image are the result of illegal encroachment. The Javan Rhino Conservation Working Group will focus on education, sustainable agricultural training and economic development to help reduce the impact the local communities have on the national park, and preserve the long-term integrity of the rhino’s habitat.
Olango Island, just four kilometers off the east coast of Mactan Island in Cebu, Philippines, is site of a 920-hectare protected wetland called the Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary. Every year from February to April and then again from September to November, the OIWS serves as refuge to thousands of migratory birds traveling the East Asian Migratory Flyway, one of the most important shorebird and waterbird migratory flyways in the world. Here, they feed and roost, perfectly at home in their own peaceful and secluded world in the bosom of Nature.

Today's project was to "isolate" a single flower with a completely black background. Home studio consisted of a black sack, a glass bowl, a bit of water, a couple of flowers (only one here obviously), LED torch, camera, macro lens and tripod. I think that worked
