The Manx passion for three-fold rotational symmetry goes back a long way although it only appeared on the national flag in 1932. It is truly ubiquitous and this example was seen outside the Manx Motor Museum.
I found a packet of old family photos from the 50's this morning at a car boot sale. This was one of them.
This is an illustration of a Welsh Shaft, which we had learnt about on the Laxey Wheel miner's walk.
The Welsh Shaft Man Engine was used to get men up and down the mine and involved stepping off onto intermediate platforms.
