My gallery needed a bit of colour so while I was in a Thailand kinda mood thought I'd offer this sunset on the Andaman Sea after kayaking the ocean caves. It was such a peaceful time of day, especially after climbing back into your kayak and heading into a dark cave with your Krathong where the candles are lit, and the offering set afloat. It was a very zen moment. Have a fantastic week everyone !

These two males were the only Orcas we saw yesterday. They were hunting and hanging out together.

It was a fabulous day on the water. Weather cooperated and didn't rain, nor was it too sunny. I made a last minute decision to go whale watching out of Port Angeles and so glad I did. It's very hard to capture sharp photos while the boat is rocking in the wake but our captain did his best to keep us on track. Hope you enjoy this series.

Maya Bay, nestled on Thailand’s Phi Phi Leh Island, is famed for its surreal beauty—towering limestone cliffs, powdery white sands, and turquoise waters. An adventure into Maya Bay is more than just a beach visit; it’s a blend of awe and adrenaline.

Typically, the adventure begins with a boat ride, often from Phi Phi Don or even Phuket or Krabi. Longtail boats or speedboats slice through the Andaman Sea, with ocean spray and tropical breezes heightening the sense of anticipation. As you approach, the cliffs form a dramatic embrace around the bay—making it feel like a hidden world.

Say hello to the Hovertravel hovercraft, your ticket to the fastest (and funniest) ride between the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth!

Caught here at Ryde Hoverport on the Isle of Wight, this Union Jack-wrapped beast skims over sand and sea in just a few minutes, making ferries look like they’re on a leisurely Sunday stroll. It’s not just a trip—it’s a proper hover-adventure, floating above the waves like a giant inflatable unicorn (but with better engines).

Whether you’re a tourist or a local, this unique experience is the quickest way to hop between the two beaches, the most unique air experience without wings.

A dramatic view of Tenerife's unique volcanic landscape, dominated by a towering euphorbia colony set against misty mountain backdrops. This image highlights the island’s contrasting ecosystems, where arid terrain meets lush peaks under dynamic skies.

This striking rock formation along the coast of Tenerife showcases the power of wind and water over millennia. The island’s volcanic origins have given rise to unique geological features, sculpted by nature into surreal, almost otherworldly shapes. A breathtaking example of the Canary Islands' dramatic coastal beauty.

Whale watching with Island Adventures. I saw her come up four times with the seal, each time tossing it about.

Our "Island Adventures" whale watching tour departed Port Angeles, WA into the Strait of Juan De Fuca on July 11, 2015 at 10:30am. Within approximately 45 minutes we encountered our first whale sighting and for the next three and one- half hours it was non-stop action. Humpback Whales were spotted breaching the surface, slapping their long fins, displaying their tails, creating huge splashes and blowing impressive sprays. As a person who truly loves and appreciates nature I will always remember this day.

A special thanks to the crew who not only educated us about these beautiful creatures but also enabled us to have close-up views of the whales in their natural habitat.

A vibrant display of euphorbia colonies stands proudly before a volcanic cone in southern Tenerife. The raw, volcanic textures and sparse vegetation capture the island’s dramatic natural contrasts between fire and flora.

The Island Explorer 5 is the most state-of-the-art vessel on the entire west coast, boasting impressive speed and high-tech electronics.

The height above the water gives you a much better vantage point. (The legal viewing distance applies the same to all vessels — lower profile boats cannot get you any closer, so they just can’t see as well as you will from the Island Explorer.) A state-of-the-art audio/visual system allows our naturalist to turn the boat into a floating class room. The Island Explorer is safe (it exceeds all US Coast Guard requirements for the area), fast (capable of speeds of 25+ knots, which gives us the range to guarantee whales), and comfortable for all of our guests.

Vessel Features:

Front Row Viewing: Outside rail viewing space on one side of the boat for all guests

Indoor heated seating for all passengers

Three viewing decks for the best possible vantage point over the water

Best galley menu of any tour boat in the area – fresh and changing with the seasons

High-speed catamaran with speeds capable of 25+ knots

AED defibrillator onboard with highly trained and qualified staff/crew

Just another day out on Race Rocks in the Salish Sea. It's funny to zoom in and look at the faces of the different animals. Some are battling for their spot while others look on casually as the fight intensifies.

I went on a whale watch with Island Adventures and spotted this guy on the way out. Very elusive and rare. I didn't realize there were even any left.

Update 7.21.2015 - Hopefully ya'll know I made the name and info up. I believe it was a Lion Jellyfish distorted by the water.

While we were on our way out to find some whales we were lucky enough to get to watch a sea lion catch and then eat a skate. The sea lion would bring the skate to the surface and thrash it around until it was able to tare off a bite as the seagulls hovered above waiting for their turn.

This vibrant photograph captures the joyful spirit of children playing in the clear waters of a sea gypsies' village on a remote island in Sabah, Malaysia. In the foreground, a young boy uses a wooden plank as a makeshift surfboard, his bright smile reflecting his carefree spirit. Behind him, four children sit in the water, watching with delight. Traditional stilt houses rise in the background, highlighting the unique lifestyle of this community that lives in harmony with the sea.

We took a little boat ride on the Salish Sea out of Port Angeles aboard the Island Explorer 4. We only saw 4 or 5 humpbacks but the ones we saw put on a pretty good fluke show giving me some nice shots of their beautiful tails.
