The Frauenkirche (officially: Church of Our Dear Lady) is a Protestant religious building located on the Neumarkt square in Dresden. The 91-meter-high domed structure was designed by George Bähr for the city council between 1726 and 1743. The church was completely destroyed in the devastating bombing raids of February 13 and 14, 1945, by the British and Americans, with temperatures reaching up to 1,200° Celsius. After the war, the Frauenkirche remained a ruin before being rebuilt from 1993 to 2005 after the collapse of the GDR. It is one of the city's most famous landmarks and one of the most important Baroque buildings.
The Römer has been Frankfurt am Main's town hall since the 15th century and, with its characteristic stepped gable façade, is one of its landmarks. The middle of the originally three separate buildings on Römerberg is the actual Haus zum Römer (House of the Römer). For centuries, the term "Römer" has referred to the entire town hall complex.
I don't usually experiment with intentional camera movement on my traditional cameras, but I decided to try the Reeheld long exposure iPhone app and was pleasantly surprised by the results.

I still can’t believe that nearly 75% of the images I captured during this Japan trip were taken with my iPhone — not counting the few hundred frames I shot of the deer in Nara Park. I’ve always known the iPhone performs well in daylight, producing clean and balanced images. But what really surprised me this time was how Halide’s ProRAW + Depth capture allowed me to recover an unexpected sense of spatial depth — especially in the distant silhouette of Mount Fuji.
During post-processing, the layering between the foreground reeds, the lake, and the mountain felt remarkably natural, with each zone responding distinctly. It wasn’t just sharpness — it was that quiet, dimensional presence that made the scene feel real.
This is the classic view of Yasaka Pagoda from Kyoto’s main street — a beautiful but notoriously crowded spot, often filled with tourists taking selfies and snapping photos from every angle.
With the help of generative removal and a good amount of manual cloning, I was finally able to clear the scene. You might notice some inconsistencies in the pavement pattern near the center — that’s where the original image lacked enough detail for AI to reconstruct convincingly. I could’ve spent more time refining it, but for now, I’m embracing the imperfection.

It was sunny and the light was so bright that I needed sunglasses.
The Z8's viewfinder had too much contrast and I had trouble setting the conditions, but the iPhone did a great job of compressing and expressing the differences in brightness and darkness.

A nice looking church in Rossendale. I don’t know how many parishioners it has but it certainly looks very scenic!
This taken a few weeks ago. The bridge links Gateshead with Newcastle & lights up in various colours. The bridge tilts if any tall ships come up the Tyne & can be seen doing so on YouTube!
We got waylaid yesterday by a drama with parts for our range hood (bad customer service) and then took our daughter who turned 33 to lunch followed by a big Bad Panda on flickr. So I am way behind! The restaurant where we took our daughter has a local resident Magpie family who of course actually come in and snaffle tidbits dropped on the floor or left on tables - despite being banned. There was quite a hefty juvenile walking around while we ate.
I couldn't resist taking this shot of a sibling who stayed outside in this spot the whole time. A much thinner sibling, standing on one leg (it did have both legs) and looking a bit forlorn. Maybe it followed the restaurant rules and didn't get to eat the left overs. Anyway, this was taken on my phone - I hope the Magpie lives a long and happy life. We love them!
