Invite for the Helvetica 50 exhibition designed by Paris based studio peter&wendy.

The Prairie Fire indoor track and field teams held the Fire Starter Invite in the T. Fleming Fieldhouse on Saturday, January 17, 2015.

Guests were invited to take a fresh look at ‘furnishing’ the eco-friendly way (whilst helping those in need) by merging the pre-loved and the contemporary and shown first-hand exactly what can be achieved with a little TLC and a sprinkle of imagination!

Leading Australian visionaries joined us for the event, and brought ‘Furnish With A Conscience’ to life by dedicating their time and talents to the campaign and creating a variety of pieces for the home using hand-picked finds sourced from various Salvos Stores throughout Sydney. These included the likes of:

Patchwork cushions made from sweaters, knitwear and fashion garments by fashion designer Kirrily Johnston; a chandelier made using silver knives, forks and spoons by interior designer Gregory Mellor; a throw and two lamps (all which had an “I Dream of Genie on holiday in Hawaii, feel about them”) by Interiors mentor and Orson & Blake owner David Heimann; a four-foot picture frame which was turned into a mirror / reference board by Megan Morton (who lives and breathes all matters of the home); a dressing table and stool by professional ballerina and model Natalie Decorte; two foot stools called ‘Arthur & Martha’ by Julie Paterson from ‘Cloth Fabric’; a complete dining room setting including tables, chairs and a side board which was completely revamped and upholstered by Better Homes and Gardens DIY expert Tara Dennis; a hat stand which was dressed in cheerful bits and bobs to create an eclectic unique look to your home, wardrobe and style, by Pip Edwards, as well as four extraordinary, complete room set-ups (a sitting room, a bedroom, a terrace and a dining room, all of which were shot at Rose Seidler House, Wahroonga, for the Furnish With A Conscience campaign), by the highly creative and talented interiors stylist Sibella Court.

These unique pieces assisted in transforming the St Peters Salvos Store into a serene and magical place for a relaxed and thought-provoking sit-down ‘brunch by bills’ to celebrate the official launch of ‘Furnish With A Conscience’. Chairs were a mixture of ‘reclaimed and refurbished’ ones from Salvos Stores, as well as a handful of bentwood style and button linen chairs brand new from Orson & Blake. This mix of the vintage and reclaimed combined with modern furniture, “gives a sense of whimsy, playfulness and humour” as David Heimann from Orson & Blake expressed.

However, ‘furnishing with a conscience’ did not stop there…. The table for 60 guests was decorated in a simple and casually elegant fashion – all fairly fun, quirky and unexpected, similar in style to an impromptu English garden party. Red and pink roses and a selection of small and sweet flowers with a, “clipped straight from the garden type feel”, were popped into various small low-to-table vessels and vintage cut glass, mixed up with a sprinkle of silver objects (from Salvos Stores) and a selection of modern white ceramics such as tall bird vases, pear shaped bud vases and various other objects including little birds, large white, elephants and other animals. Napkins were placed on vintage, irregular china plates with a different pattern for everyone, (sourced at Salvos Stores), half were white Linen and Moore (from Orson & Blake) and the other half were a selection of assorted napkins of various fabrics with a sunny Sunday feel to them, which had been created by-hand especially for the occasion. Glasses were also mixed and matched adding to the fun, relaxed and summery feel of the morning.

Guests were treated to a delicious brunch by bills including Fresh strawberries with yoghurt and honey; Crusty white baguettes filled with a fine herb omelette; Open sandwiches of our cured ocean trout, fresh ricotta with a caper and parsley salad; a selection of fresh fruit muffins, Parkers Organic Juice and a ‘Sunrise Smoothie” of orange juice, banana, yoghurt and berries; as well as a small ‘Coffee and Tea Cart” – all of which was served with a sweet smile.

Even the goodie bags continued the ‘Something old, Something new” theme. They included a variety of cherry picked individual pieces selected from Salvos Stores, various gifts from Orson & Blake, Murobond Paint samples, paintbrushes, measuring tapes, Guylian chocolates, Parkers Organic orange juice, as well as a selection of other bits and bobs which would assist in a day of home renovation and DIY!

The event was certainly a success and an elegant reminder of what can be achieved when you put your mind to it – AND whilst helping those in need!

In the days leading up to every major Award show, members of the press and celebrities are invited to any number of Gifting Suites, meant to pamper and reward the long road of making a film or TV show, or an Album with some up and coming products.

There are a number of gifting suites in LA that celebrate the Academy Awards, each with their own flair. On the quieter side, is The Secret Room, which this year featured about 15 vendor tables and their "Big Bag" for select members of the press, and for Nominated guests. Secret Room Events helmer, Amy Boatright, keeps a curated feel for her suites, there's always a little something for everyone.

This year there were wines from Rock Wall Wine Co in Northern California, with a selection of reds, a crisp chardonnay and light sparkling brut.

The home fragrances of Lilou et Loïc from London, gifting candles or infusers. Lil'O'Blossom brought a collection of bath, hair and diaper care lotions and balms for baby and children.

There were a few skincare lines, novelty black water, some toys and a Smart Coffee maker, that lets you customize your morning brew through an app, or even through your Amazon Alexa.

Beso Del Sol Sangria was there showing off their new bag-in-a-box, which holds 4 bottles worth of the lovely nectar, which comes in Red, White or a very nice Rosé, they were also handing out Sangria flavored lip balm.

There was also the Instant Wine Aerator from Waerator which also works as a push button wine spout.

Next to their table was Kelly Egan and WineVeil.com, a new must-have for entertaining, the Wine Veil, is the next step from the simple stem charm, for keeping guests's wine glasses straight- the charms are added to a veil, designed to keep your guests libations from unwelcomed flying pests, the Wine Veils come in a variety of colors, and 4 to a pack. What is great about WineVeil.com is they're donating 15% of their proceeds, from the next month to Guide Dogs for the Blind and SophieLove, a foundation supporting at-risk youths.

The table that had my attention the longest, was Whole Harmony - teas, tonics, elixirs - an artisanal herbal tea blender, based out of Connecticut, they grow most of their own ingredients themselves (as many as they can). They were sampling 4 of their tea blends, Heart & Soul, Tranquility, Goddess, and Immune Builder, each had a unique and complex flavor profile, and expertly mixed, nothing felt overly strong. Their Heart & Soul was a personal favorite. They were also sampling their Elderberry Syrup as is, and with some sparkling water, sadly there was no gin to mix it with, but that syrup could work on any number of dishes or drinks. Next was their Folk Fyre, and Apple Cider Vinegar based tonic with horseradish, turmeric and every other good thing they could fit, fermented like a kombucha and with your first sip it will open your eyes and your sinus.

Finally, they had their Lavender Lemonade, which at their home farmer's market always draws a line... served in a mason jar with their hummingbird logo, it was light and lovely. Whole Harmony isn't yet nationwide, they are starting to get on Whole Foods's shelves, you can find their products yourself at WholeHarmony4u.com (tell them Red Carpet Report sent you ;).

For over 250 years the spa baths known as White Wells have looked down upon Ilkley. They were Britain's first Hydropathic Spa for a cold mineral water treatment which was valued by Victorian medicine. In 1859, Charles Darwin 'took the waters' in these buildings while his world-changing book On the Origin of Species was being published. The spa is still in use today, and takes the form of an indoor plunge pool fed directly with fresh water that springs from the moor. It gets *really* cold in there, and the locals have an annual ritual on every new year's day when the spa is opened up to let brave and foolhardy folk test their mettle in the ice-cold pool.

The weather was wonderfully clear on my way up the valley but had turned into a blizzard as I descended again. Visibility was only about twenty feet ahead and I was pleased to see the faint light of White Wells appear before me out of the grey squalls of snow. A kind samaritan inside the building opened the door and invited me in for a couple of minutes so I could ensure the camera was dry and safely packed for the remainder of the walk!

(6/7) British newspaper The Sun invited me to create a series of special cartoons about some of the most promising players in the Russia's FIFA World Cup. This one is about Robert Lewandowski, Bayern's and Polish National Team's goalscorer. Some curiosities about him: 'LewanGOALski' eats his dessert before his main course and then ends his meal with a starter; his wife Anna Lewandowska won the bronze medal at the 2009 Karate World Cup and is also a health, fitness and nutrition expert with a degree in Physical Education --she's also written books on fitness and fronted workout DVDs; the day after he scored in a 4-2 win over Montenegro in Poland's World Cup qualifying game in October last year, thereby clinching the Poles' place in Russia, Lewandowski completed his degree in Physical Education at the Warsaw School of Education in Sport with a thesis based on his own career entitled 'RL9. Path To Glory'. He was also awarded the highest possible grade in his degree

Frederick Jones was Jools' great-grandfather, and this document, invite, shows he rose from very poor and humble roots to join the Metropolitan Police force: we have a certificate of his education and character which was needed upon his application. He left the Met in 1914 to become the policeman at dover Priory Station, all thanks to the education he received from the Ragged Schools Union in southwark.

The Haredi “Consul” Rabbi Matityahu Cheshin invited Ambassador Shapiro and his wife, Ms. Julie Fisher, for an insightful tour of the ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Meah She’arim, one of the oldest Jewish communities in Jerusalem. During the tour the Ambassador and his wife were able to witness the hustle and bustle of pre-Passover preparations. The tour included a rooftop view from the great Synagogue of Breslov, a walking tour of the Batei Ungarim (Hungarian houses), and a visit to a Passover lesson at a local elementary school. Ever wondered where Matzo comes from? At a local Matzo bakery, the Ambassador himself had a chance to hand grind some of the meal and to witness the thin dough shuffled in and out of the oven. The tour proceeded to the famous Challah bakery of Lendner, where the Ambassador and Ms. Fisher plucked challah out of the oven to discover that they spelled out “U.S.A.” We concluded the tour at the great synagogue of Belz, a centerpiece of the Belzer Hasidim community, which can seat 6,000 in its main sanctuary.

Mingle Media TV and Red Carpet Report host, Linda Antwi, were invited to cover Disney•Pixar’s “Monsters University” blue carpet at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood. This was the WORLD PREMIERE of Disney•Pixar’s frighteningly fun “Monsters University,” featuring the voices of Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi and Helen Mirren.

About Monster University

Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right. Screaming with laughter and oozing with heart, Disney•Pixar’s “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”), produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”) and features music from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and award-winning composer Randy Newman (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Toy Story 3”). Were You Invited?, 2001 painted bronze, 1/8 132 in; x 288 in; x 204in ;

This is one of two images of this piece. This is Seward Johnson's imagination at work. He is the one leaning back in his chair and gesticulating with his arm. The Renoir half is in the background.

J. Seward Johnson's Were You Invited? is based upon French Impressionist Pierre Auguste Renoir’s nineteenth-century masterpiece, The Luncheon of the Boating Party. In this specially designed and landscaped environment, viewers can actually step into the scene and mingle with the diners. In addition to the members of the Impressionist’s boating party are four figures seated around another table at the far end of the tableau. Joined in convivial conversation are realistic representations of sculptor Johnson himself with artists Bill Barrett, Red Grooms, and Andrzej Pitynski. A dashing character in period costume brandishes his cane and addresses those at the table asking, “Were you invited?” Phillip Bruno, collector and art gallery director, posed for this gentleman keeping out the party crashers. Since 1994, Johnson has been creating lifesized three-dimensional works based on well-known paintings that, as Johnson has said, “allow an intimacy with the paintings that the paintings don’t allow themselves.”
