Dunedin, NOVA ZELANDA 2023

The Centre for Innovation is a world-class research and development facility located at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. It was the first purpose-built biotechnology incubation facility in New Zealand, dedicated to assisting researchers, inventors, and innovative companies. The 4000-square-meter building features 28 research suites and houses a cluster of knowledge-based enterprises. Its primary function is to facilitate the development of commercial applications through collaborations between university and industry researchers. It is the hub for the University's commercialisation activities, including the Research & Enterprise office and Otago Innovation Limited. The building's distinctive architectural design has made it a local landmark on campus.

Uncle Milton himself gives you his biographical information.

Nikola Tesla (1856 – 1943) was a Serbian American inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, physicist, and futurist best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current (AC) electricity supply system.

Tesla gained experience in telephony and electrical engineering before immigrating to the United States in 1884 to work for Thomas Edison in New York City. He soon struck out on his own with financial backers, setting up laboratories and companies to develop a range of electrical devices. His patented AC induction motor and transformer were licensed by George Westinghouse, who also hired Tesla for a short time as a consultant. His work in the formative years of electric power development was involved in a corporate alternating current/direct current "War of Currents" as well as various patent battles.

Tesla went on to pursue his ideas of wireless lighting and electricity distribution in his high-voltage, high-frequency power experiments in New York and Colorado Springs, and made early (1893) pronouncements on the possibility of wireless communication with his devices. He tried to put these ideas to practical use in his ill-fated attempt at intercontinental wireless transmission, which was his unfinished Wardenclyffe Tower project. In his lab he also conducted a range of experiments with mechanical oscillators/generators, electrical discharge tubes, and early X-ray imaging. He also built a wireless controlled boat, one of the first ever exhibited.

Tesla was renowned for his achievements and showmanship, eventually earning him a reputation in popular culture as an archetypal "mad scientist". His patents earned him a considerable amount of money, much of which was used to finance his own projects with varying degrees of success. He lived most of his life in a series of New York hotels, through his retirement. He died on 7 January 1943. His work fell into relative obscurity after his death, but in 1960 the General Conference on Weights and Measures named the SI unit of magnetic flux density the tesla in his honor. Tesla has experienced a resurgence in interest in popular culture since the 1990s. [Source: Wikipedia]

A fun and easy way to get started with programming and hardware interaction. The Inventor Kits are used for classes and special programs in the Lee Innovation Lab.

Nikola Tesla (Serbian Cyrillic: Никола Тесла; 10 July 1856 – 7 January 1943) was a Serbian-American inventor, mechanical engineer, and electrical engineer. He was an important contributor to the birth of commercial electricity, and is best known for developing the modern alternating current (AC) electrical supply system. His many revolutionary developments in the field of electromagnetism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries were based on the theories of electromagnetic technology discovered by Michael Faraday. Tesla's patents and theoretical work also formed the basis of wireless communication and the radio. Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_Tesla

Using the three buttons with yellow icons we can change the direction we will extrude. In this screen it is set up extrude below the rectangle. We can also change the distance we extrude through.

Romanian Inventor Mircea Tudor believes that everything can be innovated. He invented the “Roboscan” gamma scanner, the most advanced system in the world, which can scan trucks or rail cars in a flash. It can be operated remotely by a single operator thereby eliminating the risk of professional and accidental irradiation. Watch the video.

Jean Grant, the creative director of the 'pool project , catching up with our herd of Oh Dears.

This is similar to the screen you should be presented with once you've opened up Inventor. Click the little white page in the bottom left corner to start a new file.

Unlike the first extrusion this time Inventor doesn't know which part of the sketch we want to extrude, so we have to select it ourselves. With the 'Profile' button selected click on the areas I have chosen and your screen should look like mine.

If your screen look s like this then great but of course this isn't quite right yet, we will have to make some changes to the options. Don't click OK, instead look at the next few screens to see what to do.

Jakob invented a special camera for the wedding of his aunt: it was a musical camera working in different languages he told everybody. And the photographed person could chose the language. i love him for his ideas!!!

Where are they now, those daring inventors?
