TNIG: Interviewer
CK: Camille Knightly
TNIG - Hello Camille! How does it feel to have come all this way and not win it all?
CK - It honestly sucks. I'm just so over the whole thing, I should've won clearly.
TNIG - So, do you agree with your elimination?
CK - Nope. I understand Logan is a "pretty" girl and all, but that is all she has... I have much more to offer as a top model and if the judges can't see that, they're missing out.i>
TNIG - Did you ever think you would make it this far?
CK - Way back in casting week I thought I didn't have a chance just looking at the other girls, but once we got to the first photoshoot and I saw their modeling ability, I knew I would make it far. All the girls were terrible.
TNIG - Who were you closest to in the house?
CK - In the beginning of the compettion I was really close to Chloe. We would always gossip about the other girls together. But, before she went home we had this big fight, it wasn't pretty. But later on, once we got over-seas i started to bond with Lex. We were total enemies in the beginning but it turns out she is pretty down to earth.
TNIG - What was your favorite and least favorite photoshoot in the compettion?
CK - My favorite shoot would have to be "Flashback Splash". I love the final result of that photo! My least favorite would have to be "Reebellious Angels". I was sick on set that day, and it showed in my photo.
TNIG - Now that the compettion is over what are your plans?
CK - Well, I have plans on getting a new makeover. After that I plan to go really far in this industry. I want to try out the real world of modeling and take down all of these bitches!

On the First Street bridge over BNSF's Barstow Yard, a man walks towards downtown, with the El Rancho Barstow motel sign, something of a local landmark on old Route 66- a few blocks away. We exchanged greetings, though I regret not making more conversation. Perhaps he was on his way to work, or a job interview?

Carmen tells me about life
excerpt from Carmen's interview (part of the Waianae Homeless Beach Photo/Stories Project):
"I’ll tell you a story for real.
I smoke drugs. Where do you want me to start?
Born and raised Waianae, local girl. I have a twin, a brother. It’s cool, but he should’ve been a girl. And my family is well known down here. I haven’t lived down here for like 10 years. I have two kids. My daughter is 19 and my son is 16, but I never raised them cause I chose drugs. Over my kids. The father of my kids, he died. 12 years ago. He was 20 years older than me. I was 15, he was 35. What brings me to the beach? I love the ocean. I don’t live here. I live in Waianae. I have a house, but I prefer the beach. I’m 36, I’m married but my husband is incarcerated. We don’t have kids together- me and my husband. Been married 7 years, but we been together for 10. He’s not from here. He’s white, he’s a white dude. He looks like he’s in the military.
I lived on my own since I was 15. I started smoking drugs when I was 12. Weed when I was younger, but started smoking Ice when I was 12. When I was 16 I was shooting heroine. I whitnessed two murders. My first love- he got shot in the head in front of me. And a friend of mine got shot. It was drugs. I was incarcerated, I did 5 years. Me and my mom. I used to be bad. I used to rob. I Just moved back out here like 3 weeks ago, my husband had to go back to jail, and I was working but I got fired. It was a good job, I liked the job- it was cash that’s why. But my boss didn’t like me. Fuck that. Anyway, I had to move out from my apartment cause…. Well my husband he turned himself in, well I don’t know if he turned him- I don’t know what the fuck, but he got incarcerated again. Next month he maxes out. From 18-28 he was locked up. And then he came out and we met in a program when we both came out, and then we got together. We were together for 2 years and then we got married. And then he went back in for 4 more years. (What for?) He’s a sex offender. And then, he’s really smart. He doesn’t do drugs. He’s not a fucking rapist or anything, you know what I mean? It’s just…at the time. He was with the girl and they made an example out of him."
I've got a three page interview in Radar magazine this month. Available from good places in Birmingham.

Today's group: 8 questions - an interview with yourself

Strobist:
Key: speedlight in DIY striplight, CL
Back: two speedlights on the floor
1. If you could go back to any time in your life, what would you photograph?
My grandmother's house deep in the Appalachian mountains of Virginia. It was built by my grandfather in a holler. There are a couple of photos, but I would love to have taken detailed shots.
2. What kind of picture do you find the least interesting?
Corporate headshots.
3. Which picture took you the most courage to take (or publish)?
The first time I did candid street photography.
4. What do you admire most in other people’s photography?
Intention. My favorite photos are those that somehow express some kind of meaning or experience the photographer wanted to communicate. It doesn't have to be high-minded or socially "important" (those often produce eye-rolling in me). It can be simple, silly, or even mundane. But when a photo somehow evokes that sense of intention, it elevates it for me.
5. If you could follow someone around for a day, who would that be?
David Lynch.
6. Which shot would you never post on Flickr?
Any photo of my wife she did not give explicit permission to share publicly.
7. What is unphotographable?
My seven year old son in a calm, cooperative state.
8. If you had to describe yourself in one word, what would it be?
Curious.
Lindsay is featured in 2 interviews this months and she well deserves to be under the spotlight. She has so many talents she demonstrates in her Blythe hobby that I don’t even know where to start: she is a photographer, a customizer, a fashion stylist, not to mention a miniature and decor expert of course...
