The wives of striking Washington Railway and Electric Company streetcar employees gather on the steps of what is now known as the Old Executive Office Building on Pennsylvania Ave March 16, 1917.
The women, who formed a women’s auxiliary to the. Union, had earlier called on the U.S. Labor Department to intervene to end the 4-day strike that sought a first labor agreement with the company.
The smaller Capital Traction Company had already agreed to a contract with the union now known as Amalgamated Transit Union Local 689.
This was part of an effort by the union to bring pressure on the company to settle that included a march of 1,000 people sponsored by the Central Labor Union. Large crowds of strikers and supporters gathered a key intersections like 9th and G Streets NW to block the tracks.
Some labor unions paid their members not to ride the WRE during the strike.
Despite these efforts, the WRE was able to hire enough strikebreakers and lure enough strikers back to work to defeat the strike.
The WRE was not unionized until 1933 when the Capital Traction Company bought the WRE and formed the Capital Transit Company and extended the labor agreement to all employees.

And this work really works and is sustainable in the public health service? These are some of the questions that tries to answer the volume.
the book is dedicated to counseling for mental health in hospital and gives to the reader the tools to learn and understand the suffering that accompanies medical diseases with a view unpublished, as integrated pathophysiological, psychopathological, psychological and relational.
The activity of clinical psychology at the hospital is analyzed as a point of intersection between the subjectivity of the patient and the team, objectivity of the disease and economical and cultural aspect of institutions.
The reader is guided along a route that, in an innovative way, moves from historical data on the complex dialogue between psychology and clinical medicine, deals with theoretical issues such as the integration of multidisciplinar clinical perspectives, to describe - finally - techniques for consultation and support, applicable in the hospital, always in the light of real clinical cases and experiences.
The book is a useful tool for university education, but it also represents a valuable opportunity for deepening and updating for all health professionals (psychologists and psychotherapists, doctors and health professionals attentive to the psychological dimension of medical-ill patients).

INTERVENTION, DISCUSSION AND PERFORMANCES
“The mirror and its reflections” is Camilla Graff Junior’s artistic research project, which deals with the use of autobiographical materials in performance. What happens in the process of sharing personal stories? What is the driving force for doing this? Five artists and researchers from a range of fields working with autobiographical material are invited to discuss and show their work.
The session is divided into three parts.
The first part “Who holds up the mirror for whom?” is an intervention where Camilla Graff Junior aka Mona Motel invites the artist to her couch. The dialogue will revolve around each individual performance practice and the various thematic overlaps between the artist’s work: memory, loss and the construct of identity.
The second part is a discussion on the role of the “mirror” and how a shift in perception, both on the side of the audience and the artist, can be measured. Luisa Greenfield will host the discussion featuring the artists and the collaborators on the Artistic Research team: Nathalie Fari, Joel Verwimp, Teena Lange and Ilya Noé.
The evening program, which is the third part of the session, is a presentation of selected works of the invited artists.

THE MIRROR AND ITS REFLECTIONS is a satellite session of the Nordic Summer University “Crossing Contexts 2015-2015” artistic research study circle. Camilla Graff Junior and Luisa Greenfield’s work together running the study circle has developed into a variety of rich collaborations. The Circle counts more than 100 active members from 15 different countries and will host another satellite session for Month of Performance Art- Berlin in 2015 in the form of a three-day long symposium.
