In the not-too-distant future, we will be able to print human organs. In March 2011, Dr. Anthony Atala from the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine printed a kidney mold onstage at TED. While this is a “proof of principle” only, many believe that it is just a matter of time before we will be able to print living tissue.

Rather similar compared to version 1.0, but a major difference is the lack of a camera. If you want to film, put a GoPro on your head. Wearable devices like these are meant as contextual tools, to provide access to the (invisible) world of data surrounding us. No camera needed for that! My guess: the camera will become a miniature detachable add-on to be worn somewhere else on your body, inobtrusively.

A proof of concept installation has been set up in the atrium of RWE’s data centre (Grevenbroich, NRW) to demonstrate the power of Lemonbeat IoT technology. Sensors measuring sun intensity, temperature, wind and other atmospheric conditions, are able to communicate directly with the shades and blinds in the atrium, without needing to be linked via a central control unit. The result is optimal light and temperature at all times. Alongside the advantages of a more comfortable climate, energy savings are also made possible. Photo/Chart: Manuel Adler, Lemonbeat GmbH
