Arduino board designs use a variety of microprocessors and controllers. The boards are equipped with sets of digital and analog input/output (I/O) pins that may be interfaced to various expansion boards or Breadboards (shields) and other circuits. The boards feature serial communications interfaces, including Universal Serial Bus (USB) on some models, which are also used for loading programs from personal computers. The microcontrollers are typically programmed using a dialect of features from the programming languages C and C++. In addition to using traditional compiler toolchains, the Arduino project provides an integrated development environment (IDE) based on the Processing language project.
I can only describe this as the ‘interactive butterfly dress’ demonstration and as still photographs don’t really explain what’s going on I have uploaded a short video so that you may understand it better. It is a bit of fun.
The concept was developed by Ezra and Tuba Cetin, two sisters from Istanbul, Turkey. Basically they developed a gown which was fitted with an Intel Galileo board capable of sensing when an object [person] would come too close. When an object was sensed inside the comfort zone the butterflies on the dress would flap their wings, or when feeling threatened would leap from the dress at the intruder.

Ideum has provided hardware for a new initiative by Target to encourage the idea of the connected home. Their new "Open House" in San Francisco contains a display of internet of things devices for the home, including security, childcare, and lighting devices, which are controlled by an application running on twelve Ideum 55-inch projected capacitive Presenters.
